Hello, I am trying to find some help with my Assassin....He is my main and I can't seem to figure out how to DPS, he was my first lvl 90 toon and I had originally thought he would be MUCH MUCH easier to DPS with...turns out that is not the case...

I have full PQ gear (no adorns) 183AA all of my jewelry is +60 sta/agi at least with crit chance and multi attack

My multi attack is 124% and my crit chance is 149% attack speed is 3.2, my melee auto attacks are hitting for about 700-3.4k, ranged is like 1 or 2k - 9.6k

I am using the Shortsword of the Ykesha and the Dagger of Subversion and the belt from the moors portal...

That being said, I average at about 7-10k DPS and am constantly embarrassed by that. I don't think the toon is 100% bad, I know he isn't the best, and could use a lot of work...but I feel like most of my problem is lack of player skill.

I have been told things like "Assassin's are DPS easy mode." and "Auto-attack and walk away." but I can't do it...I try to watch my auto but I have no way of tracking it other than Profit Ui and I hate that thing other than the auto-attack timer. I was also told that poison's do not even show up in a parse anymore(because they hit so low and so little)

Please help me, I am coming here because I can't stand getting yelled at on EQ2 flames...I am horrified by that place. (they are very brutal and mean and judgmental there)

Look at the gear of high parsing assasins. It's almost all about gear.

2. AAs r too low, need SF endlines at least 225 or so, 275 would be better.

3. Multi-attack should be over 200% (I have no idea how you get that gear 'before' you raid)

4. Crit should be over 200% (again, I have no idea how you get that gear 'before' you raid)

5. adornments, adornments, adornments even though they are expensive and seem paltry with 1.% (most big number people have the 50p per slot adorns)

6. positioning (why i hate assassin you have to constantly be right behind the mob)

7. Haste, sounds like you don't have any, need to be close to cap.

8. Crit Bonus/Potency is huge.

9. I am mainly posting this because one thing about this community is that if you post wrong answers, the geek-dom just can't handle it 'they must correct you', most of the time the correction information is useful.

Its almost entirely your gear/AA. Your stats aren't good enough to parse well.

As far as "how" to do it, its pretty easy. Lets say you're fighting a short duration single target named:

On incoming make sure your temps are up, except PFT. Get all of your dots and things on the mob that are affected by exacting so you can get them up again while exacting is still up. After that do all of your normal CAs/positional CAs that don't require stealth. After that you can get a masked/ambush in. I assume by now the mob is at 50% or less. Pop PFT and do your entire concealment chain including blue AEs finishing with fatal followup and then hit deathblow. Ideally the mob should die shortly after you finish.

That is about all there is to it. Longer fights you want to be sure you're keeping your dots on (especially deathmark) and that you're only using concealment when you have fatal followup available. Ideally you want to use all of your stealth CAs except for mortal/assassinate everytime you use concealment, or else FFU isn't modified enough to warrant its use.

Oh, and you really should time your autoattacks. Some assassins say its not vaulable but it is, moreso now that you can get so much MA and flurry now.

Parsing as an assassin is gear, AA, buffs and encounter awareness. You need to have a general idea of how long the fight is going to last so you know when to get stuff in. If its a short burn blow your load early, if its a longer duration encounter save your big hitters until the end.

As far as zonewides go you don't want to waste assassinate on trash and then not have it up for a named.

Stuff like that, I suppose.

hate to kiss butok but listen to / this guy. Taken his advice here and other forum and helps out alot. Im in the same boat as you stats wise. PQ, no adormets crappy jewelry (heck my neck piece has 6 potency!!!) half expects, 170 AAs no shadowstep no myth/buff and I can easily pass 20k in group. Havent tried to figure it out but got 40k on a 40 sec named fight in corridors, so im sure you can constantly break 20k if tweek your assasin a bit.

The only thing I would add to Gaige's post is how to set up your AA. Personally, I've been miming Gaige's AA based off his post on flames, with some slight changes. However, like you my AA is pretty low. When I first hit 90 I had about 180ish AA, and had them distributed evenly across Preditor, Assassin, and Shadow. I was parsing about what you mentioned. Later I decided to respec. What I did was filled out my Preditor and Assassin line and then put the remainder in Shadow. PFT and Shadow Step really helped my dps. I don't know if this is the right way to do it, but it definitely improved things for me.

Thanks, I feel pretty confident about this.

What poisons should I use? Currently I use Graceless Turgurs and Hemo, is this a good idea for me?

Also I will see if I can find Gaige's AA spec on flames, I have seen him(or her) on flames A LOT while looking up assassin stuff.

Later I will post all of my stats and see what you all think...I know they are far from good....

Poisons are about worthless but as an assassin hemo/gracelessness/turgur are pretty much the go to.

My AA spec atm is for HM raiding survivability for the most part and it may not be totally ideal if you're still grinding AA and doing other things. I suppose you could use it as a baseline.

The important stuff to get is the newer stuff from shadows/SF/DoV trees. The auto attack multiplier, the reuse, shadow step, pft, the 15% increase to damage under 30%, both endlines on the Shadows page, etc.

One thing that made a big difference for me at about your AA level range (still only at 207 now) was that I had previously run down the Poison line on the Predator tree and that wasn't doing very much for me.

I pulled those points out, and threw points into the SOF tree to get Shadow Step. That usually comes fairly close to the top of my parse list.

The other thing that made a big diference was making sure i knew how to land a concealment chain. PFT made it easier, but I had to do some poking arond the forums to make sure i knew which abilites contributed to it and that some had better multiplies than others. (actually... now that i think of it.. i don't even think it was on THESE forums but on EQ2Flames. )

If you're part of a guild with a guild hall, experiment with an Epic training dummy to let you play with your rotation.

Remember that beyond poisons, you can use potions. Elixer of deftness is 92 AGI and > AGI = > Damage

If you don't have it and can't afford it, your research for Master's should have Villany at or near the top of the list.

For comparison purposes, my DPS (not the number but the percentage increase) self buffed is 117% with the cap at 125%. I have the same two weapons you do and the damage range showing in the UI for those is at about 4200. I have the bow from the gnolls and that's at about 12,100 at the moment. (I'll parse in the mid - uppper 20's on Nirandi in RW depending on buffs - and I don't raid so no raid gear.)

The cloak from the gnolls my be a good boost for you (has a nice DPS number on it) and there is a good Neck piece from either the Gnolls or Thurg with 12 - 13 % potency if i recall correctly.

I certainly won't try and gainsay anything that the guys above me have said but I will say that Adorns can make a noticeable difference. If you have all of the +84 PQ gear I would suggest it's worth getting the Greater T9 Adorns ( the ones that don't use the Mana ) on them while you work towards your Raiding gear ( if you intend to raid ofc). I was lucky in that I learned/realised that I needed to start farming and levelling for Adorning early enough to have enough mats now to refresh my Adorns as i replace gear. If you haven't levelled Adorning I'd personally say that's one skill that is worth the pain in maxxing out. ( great guide on Wikia to level it most efficiently)

Someone that has raided in SF and the new expac may call BS on me for this statement but I think I'm now on a par with a pre-expansion T1 geared raider for stats, never having raided in SF or the new expac I may be wrong but from what I have noticed from threads here and elsewhere I don't think i'm too wrong. If you get PQ geared and adorned and all the good Faction gear to match then you're looking at 200%+ Crit chance, 118% crit bonus, 111% potency, 95% Crit Mit. 106% MA. This is without a single drop from any of the new instances although I have progressed the Coldain Ring up to x2 ToFS level. ( oh I cheated and have the 2 Chrono weapons + belt too)

The one thing I am not sure of after a chat that took place ingame is Deity. I took Bristlebane because the pet gives +57 AGI. I'd love some wider feedback on Deity tbh

While i'm here, and it was mentioned in a previous post would someone please give a simple list of what CA's do contribute to Fatal Follow Up's multiplier.I was once told that not every stealthed attack applied, and was also told that SS did apply? So I just would like a little clarification on it.

Short and simple please. Thanks.

Also, the multipliers from the stealth attack contribute more to FF than the single target attacks iirc. I'm not sure if that last bit is accurate info or not, but seeing as I never use FF unless I'm doing a full chain, it isn't really relevant to me one way or the other.
