It seems to me that discontinuing support for a launcher that a large number of users are currently using would require:

1) Clear notification to users

2) A migration tool or clear instructions so that you dont have to redownload 13G of data and reconfigure everything

3) A bit of time between the first 2 so that users have time to migrate.

I didn't see any of these things, but I do see a lot of upset users who cannot get into the game they are paying for.

Is LP3 what you call the streaming client launch pad? That's just stupid on Sony's part. Not everyone has a pc that can handle the streaming client quickly. How do I get logged in without using the current "station launch pad" that SONY forced me to use from one the expansions without using streaming client?

Or does sony just not give a flip about people giving them money anymore? My husband and I are also having this issue. I must say, patch days are becoming a case of grinding our teeth and waiting to see what will be messed up in the patch. Let's face it, the biggest joke in the game is that SoE needs to patch the patch that fixes the patch. Try to prove people wrong for once, and work out the bugs your fixes will cause before pushing them live.

the streaming client login is crap, i've had it for over a month, it never shows my characters, i've got to go to character select everytime i log on. also i have 2 accounts and i like to 2 box, so then when i go to load my 2nd account, i have to login then get kicked because it still thinks i'm on 2nd account, then log back in, go back to character select again, then i can actually get the 2nd account started, this is ridiculous, either fix it or put the old station access back into use.

In every other game I've ever played if their patcher got changed for a new one, everyone got it in an update and when you clicked your desktop icon - voila! new patcher. There was no trying to figure out which launcher was and was not supported anymore and why, no trying to install a launcher and downloading an entire game to a different place (I didn't do this but some will/have I'm sure), no features that worked in one but not the others kind of nonsense. If everyone needs to have x launcher because a and b are no longer supported then simply patching should replace a or b with the correct launcher.

I guess one of the problems with that is that there are alot of us who don't want to use the streaming client/launcher. I used it in beta and it's awful. I also sometimes run with two accounts open on the same machine, which from what I've read isn't an option in some of the launchers.

Is it really so hard to have one launcher that works for everything? I know nothing about coding/programming but I've played more than just EQ2 over the years and this is the ONLY game where this has ever been an issue. Like I said earlier in the post every other game just replaced your patcher with a new patcher if there was one available.

None of the suggestions here worked for me, so got to digging around in my EQ2 file and found the solution (for myself at least). I'll share it in case the problem is the same for anyone else.

I found a zipped file in my EQ2 folder called UIBuilder. I unzipped it, then deleted it. Then I ran Station Launcher (yes, Station Launcher, not EQ2 Launcher). It picked up a small file and I was able to log into the game with no further issues.

Same problem happened when I downloaded game fresh over the last weekend. Some files didn't unzip from the EQ2 streaming file to the EQ2 file. All it took was unzipping them and moving them to the EQ2 file for Station Launcher to work.

That's probably where the problem is with using Station Launcher. Zipping problems.

The best way to fix it is to launch the regular eq2 patcher in the eq2 directory. Another failed QA for SOE.

This is pretty sad, one person use's the EQ2.exe and it works I am using the Station Launcher and finally got it to work. But, when I used EQ2.exe it wants me to create characters like I am starting brand new...and YES the .exe file is pointed to the right directory. And only common sense will tell you if it worked yesterday, SOE broke it, not us. Then SOE wants US to jump thru hoops to make it work. /sigh

In the future please look into the issue before telling people to delete fies.

So, honest question, if we are using the Station Launcher, which is completely null and void now, the ONLY way to download a new launcher is to completely download the entire game again? There is no download for the launcher only?

I know that it is fixed now, but there will no longer be any support for it. So, since it is being phased out (and is technically no longer applicable), is there a download for just the new launcher instead of the whole game? I'd rather prepare ahead of time instead of having some sort of issues before a raid or something. Downloading several Gb isn't going to happen quickly.

Except that it doesn't work for basically anybody but you. Doesn't seem like a good way to me.

ps- Seems they fixed it anyway working fine now people are SOOO impatient. This use to happen every other day.

It looks like the new launcher does not even look for an install of EQ2 on the system. That one little change would be a big help. On my wife's system it ignored the already installed EQ2 info and just starts off on a new folder and downloading the game all over again. Bad programing and a waste of your bill payers time and bandwidth.

Oh, thanks for fixing the station launcher.. but now what? !s it still not supported?

Thank you for getting this issue fixed so quickly yesterday.

I am still very concerned that a default launcher I ended up with may no longer be supported by Sony.
Ok problem resolve for now, you do not have to log out of the Launcher, you have to close it out completely to clear the cache. No real difference than the old launcher, but should have been explained that way.

I wasn't under the impression that the box you weren't aware of was not populating the data yet.

Dual boxing works with the Full version of the LaunchPad 3 or while using multiple Asset_cache files with the streaming LaunchPad. In other words, our streaming LaunchPad does not disallow you from dual boxing but will download a second set of assets in order to allow you to do so. You can speed up the process by making a copy of your game folder for your 2nd instance.

Bottom line with that is dual boxing is not something we support. I'll help you with the basics but if you continue to have dual boxing issues I can only help you to make sure everything is being done properly.
