<p>One thing I have noticed about an Illy is that we are very dps oriented. We have mana regen like Coercers however Illy  regen is preventative versus Coercer is reactive power regen. I have yet to play a coercer myself but I have played an Illy my entire Eq2 game time.</p><p>I do love the DPS ability of the Illy, and we have a lot of buffs for your tanks, and casting speed enhancement.</p><p>I hope this helps just a little.</p>

<p>Illies are very DPS oriented like the above poster said. If we want to regenerate power, we have to keep casting spells in order to proc our mythical buff (or other regen items) while coercers can use a combination of a few buttons to bring an entire group to full quickly. If you're familiar with the game's healers, think of coercer's as cleric heals to power and Illies as druid heals to power, if that analogy makes sense.</p><p>Illusionists are also much more offensively based than a coercer. Coercer's get hate buffs for the tank and heal buffs for the healers while Illies buffs are meant for the mages and scouts to up their DPS.</p><p>Crown control abilites, which always vary between group to group on viability, are also things that differentiate the classes. Coercer's are better stunners and Illies are better mezzers. Why? They have one more stun, we have one more mez.</p><p>Primarily, though, your job as an enchanter is to make others shine and both classes excel at this while still tossing out some fantastic personal DPS numbers. I would suggest giving both a shot. Most of the time you can get a "feel" for a class by level 30 or so which would only take a few days at most to level to. Test one out, then betray and test the other out for a while.</p>
