View Full Version : Recent And Radical Drop in Performance

I'm at my wits end with my computer and this game. Everything was running fine up until two recent major changes; Lucan D'Lere being merged with Crushbone and the release of Destiny of Velious. My normal gaming experience has been an average of 60 FPS in "Balanced" mode for nearly the past two years. Now, I'm lucky to get anywhere between 6-10 FPS in an unpopulated area at "Extreme Performce". I'd like to say it's EQ2 and not my computer, but I can't really even vouch for that at the moment. I ended up with that god awful "system tools" virus and wound up having to reintall the OS from recovery disk recently. So, I'm basically at a fresh install of Vista (I have done the hours of Windows updates at least). I want to believe that my performance can be restored with a minimum of fuss, but I've done everything I know of and can think of to do and it's just not helping... including whatever the problem was with performace and the Bluetooth infrared device.

DXDiag info:

------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 3/26/2011, 22:53:43 Machine name: GREY-PC
As an additional note, I had trouble with the Launcher working when I reinstalled the game. I got an error about a file not being able to have its size verified. So I had to open the offending file with WinRAR and insert it manually into the live UI folder... that seemed to fix that particular issue and got me into the game.

I noticed that aswell.

I have a Core i7 running at 4,2 Ghz with a Radeon 5770 and in unpopulated areas i used to have well above 100 fps and now i have around 50. I wasnt really sure what to do so i checked other games i have on my machine and they all run just as good as they did before. This must have happend with a recent patch.

This issue is still in effect.

There are some ongoing issues with water reflections that cause similar symptoms but nothing widespread or considered 'known' beyond that.

As far as the i7 4.2, which chip is that?

If it's overclocked, I can't support that. May be completely unrelated to the issue itself, but we'll need you running at stock throughout the process. Go ahead and post your DXDIAG information too.

My computer is not overclocked. That I can assure you. The issue still exists and, at least for me, has nothing to do with any of the issues I've seen brought to attention; i.e. soga rendering, water reflections, etc... What am I am wondering if if there were any recent Windows updates that may have caused my problem. Someone mentioned .Net Framework 4 being a possible cuplrit?
