I stopped playing my illy about a year ago to focus on other toons, and just came back when Velious launched. I had top fabled raid gear, fully mastered, adorns on everything, and know what I'm doing.

I have to say... what the hell did Sony do to this class?

I stepped up to an even con, one down arrow mob, and nearly died. Took me like 45 seconds to kill a trash solo mob. I used to kill those in under 9 seconds. W T F? I was casting away like mad, and the mob just wasn't dying. Next mob, I used all temp buffs at my disposal, and shaved maybe 10 seconds from the kill. Then I tried to max dps a group of three blue-con double and tripple down arrows mobs, and ended up dying. No way this could be happening. I used to kill those groups so fast, temp buffs would last through two encounters. I had to pull out the group mez to slowly kill a group of freaking double arrow down mobs.

Guildmate said my gear needed updating as stats all changed. So I bumped up to new armor and a different set of adornments.

Same single and double arrow down mobs died a tiny bit faster, but still waaaaaay too slow. Way too much effort to kill these trash mobs. I thought, this just simply can't be right. Illies used to be crazy. Top soloers in game by far. My favorite class to play.. tons of fun.. What happened? I was beyond frustrated with the new changes.. I actually started to feel like the class was no longer any fun to play. The longer it went, the more I really began to hate playing the illy.

Then I come on here and read all these posts complaining about illy DPS nerf. I was hoping that maybe with all the changes, I was doing something wrong. Looks like it's not me after all.

Not sure why I posted this message. Maybe I just needed to vent after seeing my favorite class become so impotent and frustrating. Maybe someone from Sony reads these posts and marks down on a spreadsheet somewhere that another ex-illy has moved on to another class. Maybe something will change soon. I hope so. This is just horrible.

I was with an illy the other day that parsed close to 70K, you are doing it wrong.

Well, I noticed there at the end of SF that when I was running the daily mark quest, my illy would need 2 or 3 shots to kill the mobs. My dirge one shotted everything. Both comparably equipped in SF t2 raid gear.

First night or 3 of expansion, both killing the trash in Othmir very slowly. Then, my illy found that yellow named spider in the crevasse. It took a few minutes, all my super duper temps, time warp, etc. My pet got low in health but spider died. Took my dirge out there next night, poof, dead within seconds. Same with my t1 sf geared sk.

So, I don't know. Let's see what some new gear will do with my toons on their survivability and dps.

So no, the above poster probably wasn't exagerating. I sometimes manage those numbers when on my Illy, but much more often I sit in the 50-60k area when grouping. I have yet to raid with my Illy this expansion so I cannot comment on what a raid parse might look like yet.

SF put Illies in a difficult postition as we were hurting for dps and didn't provide any where near the same ammount of utility as we once did, but DoV has been amazing for us. From the timeline you described as to when you were actively playing your Illy, it seems like you stopped shortly after the end of TSO/beginning of SF in which case you'll probably want to spend some time running around getting reaquainted with the class. With the addition of the Theorums line of spells and the adjustments to other damage spells, the cast order you had grown acustomed to will need some adjusting. Also, the Illy pet was laughable before, but now do not underestimate it's usefulness. With pet shared stats, Illy pets are hitting much harder and (when able to keep them alive) are adding signifigantly more to your overall parse.

Are we the powerhouses we were in TSO? No, not at all, but we aren't hurting for love at the moment. DoV has actually placed Illies signifigantly higher on parses than we were prior and has made our utility much more desired. I would suggest reading over the Illy forums at Flames as they have been much more active since DoV launch. It's a treasure trove of information that will be able to help get your Illy back into shape. =)

Hmmm my Illy can kill higher level mobs with arrow ups better than my ranger. Both equally equipped.
