Today when I logged in there was a small download when the patcher started and now when I log in I have all kinds of problems with graphics. Some of my characters never render at all doing anything (combat, movement, flying). On my main character, half of the clothes/appearance gear I put on will strangly remove other pieces of gear, or change my clothes to a white dress with nothing on it. The painting you use to teleport to velious areas are no longer visible in house. I tried packing everything into the moving crate but as soon as i try and place one of the paintings my cursor dissapears and I have to hit escape to get it back again.

Ive tried new drivers, deleting ini files. Anything I can do here to fix this?

edit:: Found out none of my mounts render as well. This is really bad, half the mobs in instances dont even show up on my screen. What can I do to fix this?

I'm having a similar issue. I don't see my flying mount, and some NPC's and and objects are missing.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit and an ATI 5900 class card, and I'm using Profit UI

Re-installing the game seems pretty drastic. Can you explain what you did here? Did you uninstall, delete all files and download the many many gigs of data?

Also, how did you 'clean' the computer.

Thanks

Edit:

Ok, after reading this thread, I was able to fix the problem:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=497597

I found it was either my eq2_recent.ini or Stationname_characters.ini file that caused it. Just move those files to a backup location somewhere and start the launchpad.

All back to normal

Edit 2:

I logged in to the same problem again. This time I just shut the game down, deleted eq2_recent.ini, started up launchpad and it fixed the problem. I guess this might be a recurring problem from now on; some setting I do after logging into character breaks it. If it happens again, I'll do a file diff on that file to see what changes.

Edit 3:

I think I found the offending lines in the eq2_recent.ini, plus I think the devs fixed it because it doesn't seem to happen anymore. The two lines below when set to -32000 caused the disappearing model problem. The process of deleting the file and restarting the game will create or download a new ini file with the two new settings. I guess if it happens again, at least I know where to snoop first. Keep in mind the two last numbers are probably particular to my machine and not universal settings.

cl_screenposx_windowed_restore_down -32000 cl_screenposy_windowed_restore_down -32000

cl_screenposx_windowed_restore_down 448cl_screenposy_windowed_restore_down 156

Glad to hear it getting fixed. It does seem like a file corruption related issue so these instructions below should work for you. I'll add it right here so you don't need to go thread hopping.

You may want to make backups and then delete the following files and folders:

cache folder

eq2_recent.ini

eq2_default.ini

EverQuest2.exe

eq2.ini

As well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:

Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini

Stationname_characters.ini

To do this, please follow these directions:

1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the default directory in (for Windows XP): C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II (for Windows Vista/7): C:Program DataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C:

3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory.

4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them.

5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher.

If deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.

I've just had to delete the cache and ini files for the second time since the 22nd. In both instances, not only the Velious portal paintings went invisible on me, but my own mount (including the flying mount), the mender Yellow in DoV, the othmir NPC Misa, several of the Ringwar mobs, the portals for the chronoportal event, several other new pieces of furniture, and a large chunk of Nektulos Forest. The first deletion fixed me for the 23rd, but when I logged in on the 24th, I was back to "invisible bicycle cat" when flying on my mount, and all the other above-mention invisible goodies. I just deleted the files mentioned once again, and things are working again. I am now just crossing fingers, toes and eyes that this time it works.

Hubby had the exact same stuff disappear on the 22nd and a few other NPC's as well, and will be trying all the appropriate contortions tomorrow.

With what you describe it may be an issue with your hard drive, among other things but thats where I'll start.

You might want to run a full defrag or inspect your drive for issues that may be causing these files that are accessed heavily to become corrupt.

I am having the same issue. My flying mount was the first thing that I noticed had disappeared, however the following is a list of things that have gone invisible for me:

My flying mounts

Velious Portraits

Vampire Races

About half of ALL mobs in velious and portal to the past instances. (Anything that was touched during the patch on the 22nd) I kid you not, I cannot see them and only see an arrow walking around if someone else targets them.

The herbalist hireling (whatever it is called that gives the newest shinies)

Some NPC's and I cannot target them through other people either... making some quests impossible

Some travel globes (noticed for sure the one in lavastorm - again zones that received any patch on the 22nd.)

In the past I have had zones not fully update and I have been able to go in and just delete that particular zone from my paks file and it would fix it. Not this time. I also have deleted ALL of the above filed mentioned and it did nothing for me. I am at a complete loss as to how to fix this and with all of the above being gone from my game it is seriously a hinderance. Awfully hard to do instances and raids when you can't see the mobs.

BTW, I run windows vista (which I was told was the problem prior to this one). I cannot find any solution, please help!

If you already deleted the files above and the issue continues, then the cache files aren't the issue. I've got 3 steps for you to do.

First, update your video card drivers to the latest version if not already done.

Second, update DirectX using the link below with the latest DX9 revision dated June 2010.

[DX9] June 2010

The last thing to try here is a very length process. Depending on your patch method it could take a long time to complete. If you are using the multi-game Station Launcher, you will need to make the transition to the latest streaming LaunchPad for Everquest II first. The transition alone may fix the issue. If you are already on the LaunchPad, there is a folder called asset_cache which contains all of the game data itself. This folder can be deleted but it will prompt a very large re-download (upwards of 13GB). As it is the streaming launcher, you can still play while it downloads (which would also make seeing if it worked much quicker as well, but the download itself will take a lot of time to complete depending on your connection speed.

[EQII] LaunchPad

This issue has come back to me yet again. Its the same exact thing; the globe portals, some other models, and my mount, the DoV NPCs on the Sinking Sands dock area are all invisible. The 'tricks' I did in my earlier posts didn't work. I have deleted the assetcache directory to force downloading this directory again; all 13.7 GB.

Kinda sounds like you guys are using the streaming client I recommend the Full Client and not the streamer

Streamers are great for trial accounts because you can get into game instantly but in allot cases they usually wont render some things or be mega delayed or completely fail to render/load objects aka npc portals ect you name it and extreme buggy and completely dependent on your isp and server speed connections so watch those bandwidth limits lol

The Full Client installs the full Everquest II game like as if you bought the DVD for it from the store

both are found here

http://launch.soe.com/eq2/

Pretty much almost any harddrive and a 6800gs+ and a single core AMD64 2ghz or better can render this game with out to much delay depending on in game display settings and zone and population ect but they do render its just slower or faster depending on system configuration

and last but not least some graphical up dates they release can cause anomalies ect on all systems and clients regardless of what you do example 3.0
