Each time I try to zone somewhere my client crashes. It crashes at the point where the game screen begins to fade into the zoning screen. This has never happened before only when I updated with the recent patch yesterday.

Happens to me too. Commenced after a patch about week ago (Splitpaw - Sat/Sun/Mon?). Did a full file scan same day.

4 out of every 5 times I zone, I end up at character select and have to wait until the character already in the world goes away before I can log back in.

Never happened to me before, no hardware or software has changed. Router logs show constant connectivity, no outages.

Did you make any changes to your security features/devices (like a router) to get the game running initially? Automatic and/or mandatory updates within our game and your own system may change enough about your settings or our game file to undo any previously made changes. Make sure you double check those right away. That is just a basic step and may not resolve your specific issue.

Does it occur on just a single character or all? I can't reproduce it so it could also be a problem that lies between your router and our servers so I've also included a net test just to be thorough. You can paste your results right here or in a PM to me.

I need you to bring up a run dialog box. You can do this by pressing and holding the Windows key on your keyboard and tapping the R key.

In the box that pops up I need you to type cmd and press Enter (If you're using Windows Vista/7 press ctrl-shift-enter).

This is going to bring up an old “DOS box” don’t worry it’s just text.

You’ll need to type in the following commands one at a time. Remember to put spaces between all the words, unless there’s a special character like / or . in front of the word. Then you’ll want to keep that symbol and the word together.

If you’re having a lot of trouble you can also just copy and paste the text out of this email and into the DOS box.

These commands can take a while to run so please wait for the blinking cursor to appear since you won’t see any output to your screen. For the pathping commands you might even want to go grab some coffee, or a sandwich between lines.

So, all set? Here’s the commands:

 ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt

 tracert unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

 tracert najena.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

 tracert befallen.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

 pathping unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

 pathping najena.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

 pathping befallen.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

So much for help from SOE, I just looked and the ticket is closed now, I didn't even get an email notification of the last response and anyway, I don't have a cable modem.

During your downtime I purchased a brand new machine from Overclockers. I just logged in and crashed the third time I zoned.

I am guessing that your only suggestion will be a new router now.

Since May 2nd, our entire system has been down. We had no way of sending you such a notification and the ticket closing is automated.

My suggestion is to bypass your router altogether to identify whether or not it is the issue to begin with.

Has anyone been able to overcome this problem? I'm suffering from the exact same issue and it's driving me mad!
