Wow... That's why people are paying 20p for zone-ins. Crazy!

I'm having a problem in Nek, as well as my husband. We both play the game and on the day Brell went live we used the bell in TS and went to Nek to gather the water for the Brell quest and it was then that we discovered neither of us could see the bells for travel on the docks. We have been playing since 2005 and never had a problem till now.

Also the harvest nodes are invisible. They are appearing and disappearing in nek. I ran with my pointer and would stop when I saw my pointer turn into a hand forced to harvest invisible nodes (we were also working on an old harvest quest from Mara for the cloak).

We both sent in bug and petition reports on the problems in Nek but have not yet recieved a response from Sony. I attached a print screen shot on the docks that proves we cannot see the bells on the docks in Nek when I sent in my petition report to Sony.

There is a huge problem in Nek and it is affecting all of my toons and my husbands as well.

We were attempting to do the harvest quest there and that was when we discovered we could not see many nodes and the ones we did see would appear and disapear while harvesting them. Nek zone is the only zone affected. It is not our settings. I as in world chat was anyone else having this problem and over 10 replied yes to me in tells. A few players came to the zone and had the same problem as us.

The only UI's we have is what comes with the game, no additions.

Since we cannot see the bells on the docks we had to call out to leave the Nek zone.

I found your post in general "blackmoor" I was so glad it was there. I posted there and followed you here when someone suggested it may help to post in support. I sure hope we can get some help for Nek to be fixed. Thanks for posting. Did you send in a petition and bug report? If not pls do. I ask all that stated they were having the same or similar problems in world chat and those that came to Nek from world chat to send in reports also. I hope they did. If I were a new player I may could understand the prob but I've been playing since 2005 with no prob till now. I really think it has more to do with the new expansion than Brell maybe the flying mounts caused it. I don't know. But Nek is broken at the moment for many ppl.

I did a scan, etc... everything that I could do I did but nek is still broken for both me and my husband.

I do apologize not getting to this thread yet but I will be looking in to your reports. What server is this occuring or is it all servers? I see someone mention people are offering to pay for zone ins. I can only that means it works for some and not all so let's see what we can do about clearing out your cache first.

You may want to make backups and then delete the following files and folders:

cache folder

eq2_recent.ini

eq2_default.ini

EverQuest2.exe

eq2.ini

As well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:

Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini

Stationname_characters.ini

To do this, please follow these directions:

1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the default directory in (for Windows XP): C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II (for Windows Vista/7): C:Program DataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C:

3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory.

4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them.

5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher.

If deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.

I play on the Bazzar Server and I have done all of the suggestions you posted to fix the problem and it has not fixed the bells being invisible, or the nodes appearing and disappearing.

I don't use streamline but I did do a complete scan and it did not fix the problem. I used the preferences and then checked run complete file scan. Can this be a problem relating to new codes for the bird mounts to fly in Nek with the new expansion? The bug appeared shortly there after the new expansion.

The support for the previous methods of connecting to the game, Station Launcher included, are very limited. We are phasing out the older methods in hopes of transititioning all of our customers to the streaming LaunchPad 3.

I do need to ask you to make the transition now as it should force the client to include all of the missing textures. If issues occur with the transition I can definitely help with those as well.

[EQII] LaunchPad

My husband has the streaming launch pad and he has the same issues in nek as I do. The problem is occurring on other servers as well,so this is a problem with coding/mechanics and not the way the client connects to the game. Please have someone in coding look at the Nek problems. Until then I will just avoid Nek and accept it as a broken zone.

As easy as that would be to do, I have tried to reproduce the issues you described to no avail. I'll report it but if we cant reproduce it in any way there is more to it than just a fix on our end.

sorry been away from the game for a bit TSR-JoshusM... i've abandoned the old launchpad and started using the newer one ... i don;t know how to identify which one it is (its sort of a light blueish screen as opposed to the original launchpad is was using which was black) and still have the same issues as originally posted ... the link you provided, is a streaming launchpad client?!? i have 2 options, Full and Streaming ...

I did an uninstall and then re-install and it fixed the problem. So if anyone else is having these problems just bite the bullet for the time consuming process of re-installing the game. I made sure that nothing was left on my computer from the first install. I do not have any added ui's, but I would suggest deleting those as well before doing a fresh re-install to fix the nek problem.

thanks for that info steelblueangel was dreading doing just that, but since i am considering switching to an SSD for faster performance, i'll wind up doing that anyway ...

just an update ... i recently remembered that i have and older computer that i played eq2 on that does not have the DoV xpac installed on it (SF xpac) ... loaded it up, got all the current updates and found out that it has no problems in nek forest ... the doors are there and they are clickable, the shadowmen are flying around, the missing tents are present and harvestables are all over the place ... now mind you this older computer is using the eq2 launcher version 1 ... not using station launcher, and there are no probelms as this original post reported ... so the changes that occured in DoV has contributed to the zone problems ... whatever changes were made in the programming for DoV needs to be looked at ... the fact that i will probably need to uninstall the game and reinstall and repatch is definitely a major annoyance and quite frankly shouldn't have to be done...

However, I don't have issues even updated to DoV and have very little luck reproducing similar behavior. What could have also caused this in your specific situation is file corruption on one PC but not the other. This wouldn't always be addressed by clearing the cache if the zone assets themselves are corrupt prior to being cached.

Jumping directly to a 'programming' issue skips quite a few steps here and that would definitely affect much more customers than what is being reported. That is not to say we can't find a solution to prevent file corruption and that is always a work in progress. It could be as simple as a hard drive needing defrag or as complex as our system needing exactly what you think it might but we do have to cover all of the bases to be sure.

I'll do some disc and LP1/2 installs, then update to DoV, and see if I can reproduce this. Theres a few combinations I can try.

thanks Joshua on the upside, i know can identify the different launcher platforms ... apparently when i added the DoV xpac, it never switched over to the 3rd version ... i was going to use the link you provided earlier for the full/streaming client and noticed the new launcher ... in any event, i've decided to make an upgrade to an SSD drive, so when that happens i'll be making a fresh install. until then if i need to venture into Nek Castle i'll just jump on my older PC that doesn;t seem to have the corrupted files ... thanks for your support on this issue and for your diligence in the search for replicating this problem ...

just an update ... seems the problem has been fixed ... i must have had a poor upgrade install of the DoV xpac that caused the issues in Nek Forest ... with the unfortunate events of the the hacking attacks, i had decided to do a complete fresh install of the game, using the links you had provided TSR-JoshuaM ... and i am pleased to say that Nek Forest is back to normal, as much as you can call the dark, dismal place normal ... thanks for all your help and support ...
