I know my computer is not the fastest and most powerful, but the graphics lag since Velious was added has been PAINFUL. I have had some instances when my graphics just freeze for a minute and then there are others when it just stutters. It has gotten so bad that I am lossing much of my interest in playing the game. The problem with graphics overload is not only encountered on EQ2; there is another online game that I play that has heavy graphics, but that site has an ability to reduce texture to avoid cramping my game play or causing a sudden "Out of Memory" crash. EQ2 is getting to be a dinosaur and that means the next step is it extinction. Please take some time and do some adjustments to the graphics load. I am not about to buy a new graphics card (did it once already), and EQ2 shouldn't treat each upgrade as a way to overload the graphics cards of their PAYING customers.

Weird... I posted almost the same thing. A player replied in mine saying, "Don't feel alone, since Velious 80% of the computers of people I have talked to crash..."

Porcelina@Crushbone wrote:

Yeah... it's getting pretty old - The constant lip-service and promises that are infinitely postponed. It seems the problem is server-side with no plans for repair.

It's sad - EQ2 seems to have good workers. The tech-support has always been helpful, when I call, my issues are quickly resolved, GMs are typically very accomodating and willing to help, maybe there just aren't enough of them; or maybe they're not given the means to accomplish what needs to be done... I don't know. I love the game, I'm just getting tired of the stuttering.

Well...considering EQ2 is a graphics intense game, and many of us upgrade our systems specifically for these types of games...

You can help with your own computer performance by going into your UI and turning off things like mounts, render cloaks, flora/fauna, particle effects, etc...my guess is that that would help you a lot right there...

You may have to run your game on one of the lower settings...or just give in and upgrade your system...I personally love all the new graphics in the game and hope they don't take the nerf bat to that stuff too...but my husband and I may be in the minority since we do frequent system updates.

EQ2 was a graphics intensive game 7 years ago. There's no excuse for poor performance with today's hardware, and the only reason it exists is horrible design.

I do have a system built to keep up with the game, actually, I have one that was recommended in this post.

Are there things people can do to cut down on lag? Of course! But, why is that the only option given? Just as it is expected that one will upgrade their computer to meet the needs of the game, it is expected that SoE will upgrade their gear to keep up with their users. It's getting very old hearing the same problem from people with a wide variety of machines and getting the user-fault reply.

Here are some recent similar posts:

Jerky Performance

My Performance Sucks Since Velious

Random Crashing to Desktop

Choppy much?

Because that's what expected when your system massively dwarf a 7 year old game's 'recommended' system requirements, and that's not the situation we see.
