I'm trying the new EQ2 launcher http://launch.soe.com/eq2/ the full download one....and it wont work. I installed the flash update it needed and ran the launcher but nothing is happening...it's just sitting there with the SOE logo in the centre.

Help!

To start, there is a known issue at this time with Internet Explorer 9 that causes this issue. Please make sure you are not using IE9 then proceed with the rest of the instructions.

Theres a few things that you need to do to get past that screen.

Run the EQ2 game as an Admin. Move the game from the ProgramData folder if it is installed there.

Next, clear your internet temp files/cache/cookies and make sure there is not a proxy server set.

To clear the temporary/cache/cookie files:

Click Start à Control Panel à Internet Options à Delete (under Browsing History) à check "Temporary Internet Files” and “Cookies" à Press Delete

To check on the proxy

Click Start à Control Panel à Internet Options à LAN Setting (under Connection tab) à uncheck Proxy server options if able

And finally, disable any firewall, anti-virus, or security suite software that may prevent the game from launching.
Thank you very much. Oha nd I'm using windows XP pro 32 bit. ^_^

I've chesked tmy IE and it's not 9. However I do have it on all high security because it'snot the brower what I normally use for the internet (I use chrome). The weird thing is that it keeps asking me to update Flash (chrome tells me that flash is updated)...should I also unlock IE from my firewall and lower my securitysettings for the launcher to work properly?

I'm sorry...I'm just a little paranoied when it comes to IE.

It should be running via your default browser, so if thats crome then you need to do the process for chrome. I would make sure no blocks are in place for IE and Chrome both just to be sure.

Just as a diagnostic step, I would suggest disabling it all just to be sure thats where the problem lies. Bypass the router and disable your firewall/antivirus altogether for the sake of identifying where the configuration is needed.

Thank you once again. I'll give that a try. Yea I was a bit surprised when it kept asking for a flash update I know chrome automaically updates flash and everything else.

I'll unlock both just to see what happens.

Also just a curious question...if you don't mindme asking. Why the switch to the new launcher instead ofthe station launcher? I had this game quite a while agao and I found the station launcher quite conveninent.

Just curious. ^_^

Edit to ad: Also why does the EQ2 folder have to be outside of the programs directory? Is there any reason or is it just tempermental in that way? Hhee sorry I'm curious when it comes to these things.

Edit to add as well: I've also been running the station launcher on another computer just to see if I could get it to work and I got the 'unable to read file thing' error but now it seems to have corrected itself. Interesting...

Update to ad. Well the SOE launcher bumed out again...so I finally just let my fire wall open for IE and Chrome (I hate doing that but I really want to play hehe). It still squaked at me for flash but after I said no the launcher seemed to work.

So far.....

it's checking the game now...I hope it up dates it propely. >_<

I am having the same problem with one of my laptops. It is also windows xp. The launcher does not run it just sits on the SOE logo and triggers a bunch of IE error messages.

Is there a way to fire off the file update process without using the launcher and get around this problem? That way i can get the installation up to date and then just launch everquest2.exe and get into the game directly.

I would disable all of your IE add-ons to see if any of them is the culprit. What are the specific error messages you are receiving?
