I have an Alienware 15" laptop. Specs are

Model: Alienware M15X

RAM: 4 GB

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU M620 @ 2.67GHz 2.66GHz

OS: Win 7 64-bit

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M

Issue: Other games run fine, but EQ2 is jerky when I move. My FPS is 11-20. EQ2 if fully downloaded. I am running Options on High Performance, but on this system I would expect to be able to run it on High Quality. Even on High Performance the jerkiness is there but a little better. I have reinstalled my video driver which made no difference. What else can I try?

Thank you!

When is your jerky? Mine is when there is shallow pools of water (in the hole) and any where that is shinny for example the ice ground in velious.

That setup should have much better performance at that setting and even higher.

Make sure you are using the latest drivers available for your video card. I also have an update you should run as well which I've included at the bottom of this post.

I recently built an i7 machine and ran in to some bad performance issues that I simply could not explain. After trying suggestion after suggestion to no avail I decided to see what Windows thought of my system in it's Windows Experience Index (Right-click Computer and select Properties) and it said that I needed to update my score.

I went ahead and ran the WEI tests and when it was done received my fairly decent score (limited to 5.9 due to my hard drive!). I fired up EQ2 again to tweak the performance more and noticed that it was running exceptionally well compared to just a moment ago before running the WEI tests. AERO wasn't fully initializing and running the WEI tests fixed the issue. I disabled transparent glass windows, my preference, and EQ2 was blaring as speeds I had initially expected!

Go ahead and make sure you are running the latest video card drivers for your Nvidia GTX260M (version 266.58 is the latest I believe) run the update below and make sure the WEI is run. This should help a lot with your performance.

[DX9] June 2010

Did you run the DX9 update I linked above? It is a self extracting package that asks you to select a folder. Once you have done that, you need to browse to the folder you selected and run the DXSETUP file to start the actual update.

I have ran the June dx 2010 setup and dxdiag still shows the same as posted above. Good thing Vista only supports up to directx 10. I am clueless why it is still showing Directx 11!

Have you run it in the past or just now? Updating it now is 2 parts, in case you didn't already have it or in case what you have has become corrupt.
