Moving the folder out of ProgramData is the first step. Now, ensure you are running the LaunchPad as an administrator as well. Right-click it and select run as admin.

If this does not resolve it for you I can only suggest you make the transition to the latest LaunchPad for Everquest (game specific, unlike the multi-game Station Launcher).

You can download that here,

[EQII] LaunchPad

I apologize that the information isn't more readily available. I'll see about making sure it is in the future.

I'm having trouble with the EQ2 launch pad...it keeps wanting to install the newest verson of flash....however I'm using chromeand my flash is up to date...I even tunred active X backon and it still wated me to install flash.

It also requested that I turn off my messenger programs (it said Ihave 2 running I have one) before it could install.

What's going on....>_<

I think the flash update is for internet explorer as all of the game launchers use that.

Oh great...and I have that thing locked down for security reasons. >_<

Perhaps I'll fiddel with the Station launcher more before I attempt the streamer again.

Sorry for bringing this one from the dead but here's a fix. When you get the error regarding the eq2ui_newcharscene2.xml.gz file do this:

1. Go to the folder where it says the problem file is at. Mine was stored in EQ2/lp_temp/UI/Default.

2. Using the unzip program of your choice, extract the problem file to EQ2/UI/Default folder, or wherever the UI folder that isn't in the lp_temp folder is.

3. Continue with the update.

It took me 5 minutes to figure this one out. Sony if you are looking to hire someone in your development department that will start stomping people for ignoring simple bugs like this...I'm your man. Oh yes, I work from home and require a constant stream of Dr Pepper and Ho-Ho's, anything less is a dealbreaker.

We simply do not support the Station Launcher anymore. It's being phased out completely.

I think not.. so what the hell is in the 4 gigs that its trying to download onto mycomputer... the new launcher is a crap tastic program that first off doesnt even try to look for where I already have EQ2 installed, it just automatically trys to put it in some random shared user folder who not one single person on earth uses... so it changes the install directory and if you happen to catch that, it still trys to install another 4+ gigs of something onto my computer which I obviously dont need because I played the game 12 hours yesterday and there was a small patch this morning... which made Station Luancher useless and you say "we dont support our program anymore" !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Are you serious?

You simply do not support station launcher? It's being phased out completely? And no one chose to go back to the old expansions where it was made the DEFAULT launcher for people and maybe do some coding to FIX that?!

And we don't find this out unless we actively look for it on the forums when it's finally phased out without anyone giving us fair warning with an motd or something?

I'm sorry. This is unacceptable behaviour from a company that takes my money every month without fail.

Please do not misunderstand. I cannot provide support to you to fix every issue that you may encounter with Station Launcher. Things that prevent people from getting in to the game will always be addressed on the development side regardless of patch method, just not through a troubleshooting step we can do together, hence the product is no longer supported.

I received word at about 10:15AM PDT that the issue was fixed. Hopefully Station Launcher is functioning properly now.

Attempting to come back to EQ2 but having the same issue as the above folks... Now I can that JoshuaM was in a bit of a huff but the launcher is the one that came with the game and I(most likely anyone who purchased the game via DVD) was not aware that there was an issue until I just reinstalled the game. I do have a nasty data cap on my internet connection so redown loading the whole thing is not actually acceptable and Joshua's reply is far from acceptable as he seems to have a title of 'customer service'...

I did attempt the workarounds posted but the update still fails on that eq2ui_newcharscene.xml... Is there a way to actually fix this? Redirect the game specific launcher to know that I have already installed the game, where should the launcher start and what should it's target be so that it only updates instead of starting over?

Thanks,

Brian
