We need help, we have three accounts and we just returned to EQ after about a year being gone. One of the computers we have is not so great, but other than lag it never crashes. My computer is high-end and never crashes or lags or anything (Nvidia, EQs favorite). The other computer is very high-end - and eyefinity three screens.

Our highest-end computer, which already plays STO, Champions, numerous FPS, etc, crashes, switches between screens, and outright hates EQ2. Numerous things have been tried, now he is using a momentary switch and a downgraded system we had spare in the house; however, it would be nice to run EQ2 on the best computer.

The exact problem includes a ding-ding - the Windows sound like when you plug in a USB item, but continous. The game crashes, randomly switches between screens and will not stay full screen or at a lower resolution. Does not appear to accept running in Window's mode as it changes randomly of its own accord.

Here are the stats.... please advise further, note we have tried everything in all these forums and eyefinity forums, that we could find before extreme frustration caused us to cease and desist.

------------------

System Information

------------------

Time of this report: 3/13/2011, 10:35:02

       Machine name: Not APplicable

   Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) Service Pack 1 (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255)

           Language: English (Regional Setting: English)

System Manufacturer: OEM

       System Model: OEM

               BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG

          Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.7GHz

             Memory: 12288MB RAM

Available OS Memory: 12280MB RAM

Page File: 2252MB used, 22303MB available

        Windows Dir: C:Windows

    DirectX Version: DirectX 11

DX Setup Parameters: Not found

User DPI Setting: Using System DPI

System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)

    DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled

     DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode

------------

DxDiag Notes

------------

Display Tab 1: No problems found.

Sound Tab 1: No problems found.

Sound Tab 2: No problems found.

Sound Tab 3: No problems found.

Sound Tab 4: No problems found.

          Input Tab: No problems found.

--------------------

DirectX Debug Levels

--------------------

Direct3D: 0/4 (retail)

DirectDraw: 0/4 (retail)

DirectInput: 0/5 (retail)

DirectMusic: 0/5 (retail)

DirectPlay: 0/9 (retail)

DirectSound: 0/5 (retail)

DirectShow: 0/6 (retail)

Thank you!

Annakari of Unrest---sorry won't fit in one post is two...

I am interested in what you find here, because I am running a multi-core machine with an ATI HD 6870 and have been crashing constantly since a few days after DoV launch. I have posted my info on the thread Clint Crashing.

Regards..

What really concerns me is that there has been no response.

I've deleted three options for posting... so I will just leave it at I really hope someone responds and that I will not continue to hear "I told you they would not respond, it's Sony."

Thanks

Unfortunately EQ2 will not operate properly at such an extreme resolution that 3 monitors through EyeFinity would require.

From the information that I have come across, it would seem that EQ2 should operate properly up to 4000 pixels wide. You may need to setup a custom resolution with Eyefinity that does not exceed that width.

Otherwise, it is not a fully supported feature and has been previously reported. I do not have any further information but I'll see what else I can dig up.

We already did that - the resolution. We are aware that it will not operate at the highest resolution possible with these screens; however, it should not crash at the 4000 resolution. Based on the data available.

Thank you for the response.

Interesting enough - did you know that EQ2 crashes when using the Windows7's voice recognition program in conjunction with the Adobe reader - which is defaulted to ask me everytime I load up the program.

I multi-task, I have crashed EQ2 twice in two days, LOL. However, you don't need to solve that problem. We need to find out why Chris' computer is not playing EQ2 even at 4000 resolution. He already reset the resolution, he tried running it in Window's mode - at lower resolution than even his middle screen alone.

The crashing occurs without relationship to the three monitors - I provided all the details because I figured that would make it easier to understand the systems involved.

In an eyefinity forum we found a message that stated that EQ2 searches for systems using software or machines to allow botting or other not-permitted activities with EQ2. That person had removed a dongle (that Sony software thought was something else) during game play and that seemed to resolve his problem, but not ours. We thought if you say the system specks you could advise if there are other problems we are missing.

His computer plays all the other games he has ever loaded up, even cheaper games that you play online, even games that cannot play in eyefinity he plays in the middle screen. They do not crash, we were hoping you could help.

Ok, I guess no one really knows, that is why we didn't call tech either.... you never really get any people who are techs when you call them - not even for the internet.

We will just use a momentary switch since he already set one up with the not so great computer and can now just run EQ2 on the smaller system.

I was just hoping you all had a clue because he won't stay with this game for long, it does not keep up with his equipment, then I spend a few months paying for an account he doesn't play, then shut off his account, and then I get fed up and just stop playing games again myself. Don't feel bad though, really is hard to keep upper-end gamers playing games that are unable to keep up with the changing equipment, I am sure EQ2 isn't alone with that struggle.

Ok, GREAT News -

Of course we all knew that EQ2 was not compatable with the eyefinity setup, they just aren't ready to join that arena, but it is a serious issue if you even leave the dongles plugged in during play. EQ2 hates dongles and that will cause the blinking and Windows sound if you are using an eyefinity setup you have to turn off eyefinity and unplug the dongles if you are using those for your monitors.

Unfortunately, because EQ2 does not support eyefinity and I do not think they support ATI either, they cannot help, but we found it ourselves.

Another issue can be Framework 4, but most people do not use that anyway, so if you are not using it that is ok too.

Also watch, because if you work on your computer for other games you can accidentally change things you might want to do with the other games and forget to change it back. LOL

I've been having frame rate issues in EQ2 recently... noticed you mentioned Framework 4 might be an issue. So I checked through all my Windows updates and saw that .Net Framework 4 is running on my computer. Is this something I should be looking into in terms of fixing my performance? And how would I go about checking?
