When we defeat Kerafyrm (which is imminent), what will happen to the Awakened-worshipping droag?

Will they turn to Veeshan? Will they all commit suicide? Or, in turning to Veeshan, will they try to establish diplomatic relations with Freeport, Qeynos, Gorowyn (in particular, I'd hope) etc.? If so, would they become a player race, with a quest to fly at level 86? Or would they still be xenophobic and hostile?

I hope they'd do the third option. Droag player race, man. It'd be cooler than those clunky Sarnaks.

The droag are forever loyal to a dragon. ANY dragon. There are still other dragons out there to follow, including Nagafen.

I imagine they would just move to serve another dragon. like Yelniak/CoV.....or Naggy...or maybe the new ice dragon from frostfell...or Xygoz perhaps if he's still alive. (since a dev hinted there was 1 dragon from RoS that lived, I'm betting it was him)

or maybe if Kera has any other second in commands they may serve him/her insitead.

Considering the droag don't all follow a single leader...

The Awakened are factured without Kerafyrm present to rule them. The droag follow those dragons are also at odds with each other just as much as their masters are at odds with each other. The droag in Kunark are loyal to the Ring of Scale, not the Awakened cult. I'm not sure if the dragons of Velious would have followed along with the rest of dragon kind in adopting the creation of Droag to act as shock troops and servants. Honestly it would be refreshing if they were more traditional and stuck to using dragon-kin and rejected Droag all together as abominations. Wyrms and Drakes could provide most of the army the Temple of Veeshan needs. That and the golems they used all over Skyshrine. Why make flesh and blood troops that require care and maintanence when you can just enchant a pile of rocks and throw that at your enemies? Also nobody worries about golems loosing faith and betrying your cause.

I can think of a few reasons to prefer Droag over Golems/wurms/drakota:

1. Drakota are notoriously hard to control. and no one right now to our knowledge has the Harness, the device used to control them.

2. Wurms and Golems are not terribly bright. Wurms are little more then beasts, and Golems only do what they are programed to...they can't adapt or change perogatives on the fly. not to mention both golems and wurms are ground troops only..Droag can fly.

3. they accept them becuase thier religious dogma says that the droag are V's creations to serve dragonkin. like it or not, despite thier great size and power, the dragons are vulneralbe to mortal weapons and the other races have armor capable of withstanding even a dragon's breath weapons and claws. now they have thier own shock troops that can be similarly equiped to deal with mortal races. plus they can act as diplomats and envoys...without a dragon having to polymorph to a less desirable form. (Tarinax as an Orc, Xygoz as a high elf, Gorenaire as a dark elf are examples that come to mind)

basically thier more reliable then drakota, they are smarter and more adaptable then wurms and golems, and they can go to places the dragons either deem below them or to deal with mortals on 'equal footing' as it were.

Cusashorn wrote:

The droag are forever loyal to a dragon. ANY dragon. But by all accounts, according to Yelinak, the droag besiege Skyshrine, which means that the Claws of Veeshan did not see fit to raise droag of their own. Which begs the question as to what happens to the droag in Kunark; Cronyn said that canonically, all the Ring of Scale are dead aside from one, yes? So the droag there will pledge alleigance to that remaining member, by this logic.

And the thought of Nagafen adopting a droag army is...awesome, really. Though would he need it, if when his eggs hatch, he can raise them to be obedient to him?

I also wonder for Velious part 2 and what shall become of those eggs that we haven't heard a thing about since the original prismatic questline and the death of Darathar.

I wonder what shall become of the droag in the end, though. Their fate seems unclear after the end of Ages' End.

If every last dragon on Norrath was made extinct, then I imagine the droag would probably go crazy and attack each other and anyone else until they all die out. There are still plenty of dragons left to rule them though, including ones that currently aren't planned to be killed off anytime soon.

Eventually the dragons will probably retreat to Veeshan's plane or be killed off by the greed of mortals. I'm thinking the second most likely, the Gods got fed up of mortals storming their realm and farming them for loot so they shut off the planes of power and left for a while. Though people still hunt their avatars..

I don't think Naggy will, he might take control of a Human town and make it profitable and hire adventurers to do obscure things for him before retreating.
