I recently installed some more RAM which caused a bevy of issues, including causing both LaunchPad and EverQuest2.exe to crash. I finally sorted it out and got my system working again, however it seems to have borked LaunchPad.exe.

When I try starting the game via the LaunchPad, it loads, checks everything, then crashes as the Play button appears. It doesn't even bring up the "send error report" window, it just crashes. I installed the Station Launcher, thinking it would fix it, but it just downloaded 11 gigs before I could play. I can launch the game fine from the Station Launcher, but EQ2's LaunchPad.exe still crashes.

Running Windows XP 64bit.

You may have corrupt the cache files when the memory issues were still prevalent. Two things we can do here.

First, run an full scan. From the LaunchPad, log in but don't click Play, instead click Options on the top left and select Scan.

Next, the memory issues may have corrupted files.

You may want to make backups and then delete the following files and folders:cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.iniTo do this, please follow these directions:1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the default directory in (for Windows XP): C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II (for Windows Vista/7): C:Program DataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C:3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory.4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them. 5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher. If deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, I can't run a full scan because LaundPad.exe crashes as soon as it does its initial checking and the Play button loads. If I try and click options and scan, it just crashes.

I tried deleting the files you suggested, but it still crashes.

I did notice that one of the log files said something about not being able to load some lich models from E:, which is odd since E: is not a drive I have mapped to anything. I checked the config files but didn't see anything pointing to E:.

Is it possible to download a fresh LaunchPad.exe while retaining the rest of my game install?
