A cursory glance at recent topics didn't show a similar post. If I've missed it, my apologies.

The subject line says it all. Every time I zone (or try to zone) all day today, my eq2 client crashes to desktop. This has not happened to me before, but is 100% consistent today.

I am a computer noob, but here's some info on my machine. Let me know if you need more. Windows 7, 64 bit 1.4 terrabyte, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 8 gigs RAM, 2.80 Ghz processor

Any suggestions?

Nothing? Last night after posting this, making no changes on my end, the crashing stopped. Today, however, I have crashed no less than 20 times in the last hour trying to zone from here to there to complete an HQ. Obviously this is affecting gameplay drastically. I see in update notes from today that a crash bug was fixed... ?

Also today, while grouped with a friend, we both crashed twice at the exact same time. Not zoning. Just standing near Cythan in the Feerott.

Suggestions would be appreciated

It sounds like you may be partially blocking necessary ports for the game as this has caused the same issue in my testing.

I've included a KB article that explains the security configurations that must be set.

[EQII] Firewall and Proxy Information for EverQuest II

You should also clear out your cache for EQ2.

You may want to make backups and then delete the following files and folders:

cache folder

eq2_recent.ini

eq2_default.ini

EverQuest2.exe

eq2.ini

As well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:

Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini

Stationname_characters.ini

To do this, please follow these directions:

1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the default directory in (for Windows XP): C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II (for Windows Vista/7): C:Program DataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C:

3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory.

4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them.

5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher.

If deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.
