I have a very fast reading medium writing SSD that will be the OS boot drive in a computer im building and what i was considereing was partitioning a bit of it for use with EQ2.

the drive has 60-64GB and it will get win7homepremium and a few other progs but i hear the footprint of 7 is MUCH smaller than vista ult.

I also have a data drive (1T caviar ) i will partition up and was considering putting the second and 3rd partitions up for EQ2 ( first partition would be for swap file for OS since i hear wsap files on a SSD arnt a good thing)

Both these drives are sataIII 6G and will ocupy my mobos 2 sataIII ports.

so the first thing i was thinking was NEXT year how much do you think EQ2 will grow Size wise so i can anticipate the partition size ( right now its about 15GB )

and second thing i was wondering was for those more techy than myself what you think of my HD solutions and any advice ?

I would have no way of foreseeing exactly how much the game folder will grow in size. As long as you keep it defragged regularly, you shouldn't have any issues expanding or shrinking the partitions in the future to accommodate the growth.

umn rule number 1 of SSD drives. You dont defrag them a lot....

and that is exactly what you dont want to do for a SSD drive hence wanting to know approximately what size it will be in a year or 2.

Unfortunately that type of information is not available yet.

Not going to lie.. reading this thread made me laugh out loud.

I mean obviously there's no way to predict how large the game directory will grow over time.. but Joshua's responses are just pure gold coming from someone with TECH next to their name.

Hey everyone makes mistakes, I read a lot of threads and at the time of putting up my response for this I didn't remember it was for SSD...

My followup on his rule was simply explaining that i was being general about defragging, not instructing him to defrag his SSD, just that you need contiguous free space to resize a drive.
