I think that if a toon were sitting, the things you would most likely want to see them do / be able to do would be:

1. Eat / drink motion 2. Reading, hold a book type emote3. Wave / beckon4. Cheer5. Toast with a glass

I'm sure there are others but those top 5 seem like things people would do when sitting.

I wouldn't mind seeing a / command added to let you do the harvesting/collecting emote. The animation is already there, but I don't think you can access it unless you are actually picking something up.

Also, isn't there a scream emote that you do for certain mobs in The Estate of Unrest? I could be remembering it wrong but if not that would be nice to have wired up to a / command if it isn't already, along with the accompanying scream.

Also +1 to /faint

and -1 to /macarena and /chickendance

Although, if there were enough different dances put into the game that you could string together, it might be interesting to see someone put together a video of an EQ2 flash mob.

/matador? Take off your cloak and wave it like a bull fighter?

There's a lot of great animations already available, but they're tied into canned emotes that may not fit with what we want to emote.

Ever considered looping emotes that dont end till either the user moves or a cancel button is clicked? ie: /faint leaves you on the ground until you move or click something Could work for a /read /liedown /chat (like flaling your arms around like an npc that is "talking") and so on. ALSO, what about looping mood emotes (such as the Angry mood causes your toon to stare around differently and put their hands on thier hip occasionally)

Could /blowkiss actually be a little less silly and more like a traditional one? Where the bottom of your hand is up to your chin, hand out like a little runway? If you search Bing for "blow kiss" you'll get a bunch of pictures showing you what I mean.I'd love to see the /salute some of the NPCs do, bringing their fist to their chest and nodding a little. Along with the storytelling one that most of the Erudites do in Paineel, waving their arms about as they speak. /orate?

Maybe make it so bards can use their instruments at will? /lute /drum /flute

These are already implemented in game, so hopefully not a lot of work would need to be done!

For new ones? I'd love /sing. And it would cancel if you typed it again. One hand over the heart, the other arm outstretched as they sing a big note.

Any dance other than the hand wavey one would be great! Racial dances would be very cute but I understand if you can't do them. That Michigan J Frog dance was epic from that one video I've seen! I know, I know -10!!!A /facepalm would be used. A lot. Maybe shaking your head sadly at how pathetic something is.

I like /faint! That's a VERY good idea. Anything that makes you fall over.

/eat and /drink! Sit a person at a table with a food item on it and just have them use a fork. That'd be the only part you'd have to animate for that. Drink, well, we have the mug emote, but maybe something a little more refined.

and not even a chair, just more /sit emotes. On the ground versions. /sit1 /sit2 /sit3, etc.

Any kung fu moves for Brawlers would be nice.

I could think of a lot more but I'm kinda fuzzy!
Actually, its not exactly what you're asking for, but what I'd love is the ability we had in EQ1 to add custom text to an emote. If you did /sit you got the default flavour text, but you could also do "/sit slowly sits down, sighing in relief" to get the /sit emote animation along with your chosen text, "Eveningsong slowly sits down, sighing in relief". Basically combining the /emote command with the other specific commands...

As for regular emotes, /smack playerx is something I often finding myself trying to do and it just doesn't exist!

I like the idea of a true /sit (not just the existing kneeling).

I'd also like to see /sleep and /playdead (aka feign death) -- both have their potential uses

I definitely like the /evillaugh idea too! I spent ages trying all the various emotes trying to get an appropriately evil screenshot of my mad scientist ratonga for a NotD screenshot contest a while back, and there just aren't that many truly evil emotes .

I think the thing that most annoys me about using emotes while sitting is that the voice overs are muted for almost every emote that has voice while sitting. Can't say hello, can't say goodbye, etc. Enabling those alone would be a nice change, even if their associated upper-body animations don't work well with sitting.

Just a thought, if these emotes could also be tied to actions in game then they could be really useful in group or even social scenarios. For example thinks like; /readbook - could be used when someone is reading a player made book, or examining journal etc /readmap - when someone is examining map info /afk - paper bag over head.. or zzz's The idea being so you can see what toons are doing while they are stationery standing there "appearing" afk... you could see them pull out a big map, or flick to a book (journal), or fall asleep! =)

Heck, even the Indian and Princess Leia styles from EQlive would work.

----

A /Fistpump type animation to show that you're psyched up for something would be cool. This is sort of a Japanese thing that I see often in anime, but it's not completley uncommon in the rest of the world. You extend your left palm flat open and tap your right fist into it. Its a "Hey, I have an idea!" type moment." The sound effect of a tsuzumi drum being hit is optional.

----

/Monkbow, which features Monk's Hand-in-fist bowing animation. Bonus points for splitting them up into two emotes:

1. Right fist into left open palm = sign of respect.

2. Left fist into right open palm = Don't mess with me or I will bust your head open.

I'm curious how you'll position the character's hands while they are sitting with the default /sit. Will they be on the arms of the chair, on your lap, on your knees, under your chin, etc.?

If you go to a stock photo site and type in sitting, you see some pretty great poses, including the relax pose I read about earlier. They could also be tied to the /sit emote, too. Some examples:

/listen while sitting

/bored while sitting

/stretch while sitting (or /relax as someone suggested)

/ponder while sitting

Thought about this some more. For myself, I would really just like to have a proper "sit on the ground" option. The kneeling position I get from /sit isn't really sitting down.

At first I thought cross-legged would be nicest, that's how I'd sit in RL.

But I wear a robe and I'm not sure where you'd put all the draping bits of a robe then. The other option would be sitting on ground with legs together, bent to one side. Keeping the legs together should then look better with robes?

Or like the sitting slouched sideways pic that Duke Occam posted above me.

Then for a really fun emote, can we have /tantrum please? Just map the command to the animation used on Quo in the new Return of the Gathering Obsession. I wasn't the only one who laughed big time when first seeing that emote he does!

But I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, just go do the quest...

I can see all the ones I listed having slightly different feels to them.

This is a fantastic notion! I would LOVE to be able to do this! It would resolve any and all mismatched text emote issues, and allow us to use any animated emote that doesn't have voice (and probably some that do) for any purpose. I've often felt that several of the action emotes could serve as several different emotes, but it's awkward when the original text is displayed. Roleplay gets confusing. Being able to set our own text by combining /emote with every other emote command would be golden.

And, as an aside, I can't help but mention... "/mood angry" used to be *awesome* on my evil Ratonga Necromancer. It made him doubly evil, looking like he'd just as soon spit on you as talk to you. I felt a special kind of joy at discovering that command on him. I kept it turned on always.

But then... body motion was added to it. Now he shifts around like maybe he's a mime pretending to be someone who's angry... -_- It's overeggagerated and comical. That or his feet hurt and he just wants to sit down? I dunno. Whatever it is, it looks like something that'd be better off as a non-looping emote, not a mood that stays up. And it saddens me that I can no longer use /mood angry and feel happy about it unless my necro's on a mount.

I'm sure there are some people who love it though, and I do quite like the "/mood afraid" motions, looks pretty neat, but not something I can imagine I'd have up all the time. ( Hrm, a halfling adventurer that's scared out of his mind all the time? Heh heh... Okay, now I have to do that... ) What I'd really like, in lue of just changing it back is two new /mood options that return to us the option of displaying merely the facial expressions assosiated with "angry" and "afraid". Perhaps "irrate" and "worried". Heck, maybe you could add body animates to "tired" and "happy" and give us facial-only commands for them as well. Perhaps make "/mood tired" yawn and stretch every so often. The "/mood happy" could have the /bounce animation added to it, looped, and give us "/mood friendly" for the facial expression alone.

Whatever seems like it might be be fun and relatively simple to do. : )

Thanks for reading!
