AB crashed again: I can't laugh it off anymore

<p>We asked them several .. several times to not allow folks to transfer to AB and with the one day Free transfer AB became unstable again ... This is really frustrating... /sigh</p>

That's what I'm really hoping for.</p></blockquote><p>I would absolutely love for there to be a real RP server.  Other games (aka: the competition) do it and even enforce some RPing policies though not heavy-handily since everyone's version of RP is different.</p><p>That being said, if they ever do create a new RP server, you can almost be sure that it will not allow inbound character transfers.  Meaning, players would have to start over.  The downside to that is a lot of players including non-RPers would play on it because it would be a "new server".  </p><p>The sad thing is that the reason AB maintained the most players for the longest time is that the RPers stayed with the game while many of the non-RPers bolted for WoW and every other MMO released.  Now those same RPers are the ones who are paying the penalty for their loyalty.  At some point, a real RP alternative is going to come along and SOE will be nothing more than a turnover game for players especially as the game moves more to F2P.</p><div>I don't blame the people who have transferred to AB.  If I was a non-RPer and I could transfer to a server where I could more easily find groups and could avoid lagfests, I would do it too.</div><p>SOE should realise they could establish a long term roleplaying playerbase if they would create a new real RP server.  Unfortunately, SOE (the company) does not get RP and the SOE people who do understand RP carry no weight with the people in charge.  I am not even sure SJ carries any weight the way he makes it sound like everything is beyond his control. </p><p>I believe EQ2 is the best MMO available but at some point, a real RPable game will come along and a mass exodus of RPers will occur.</p><p>-Aganon</p>

<p>They haven no real way of forcing RP in a standard ruleset, and even if they make a modified ruleset like that it doesn't force people to RP, it just changes the rules.</p><p>In either case, they need to fix this crashing. How they thought a free transfer day was not going to cause major issues on one or more of the new hardware servers is beyond me.</p>

<p>Wrong .. just plain bloody wrong... AB was crashed for 20-30 minutes and then it comes back up and now it is down due to Hotfix. They should of Hotfixed it while it was down .. that would of made sense <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ... /grumble</p>

<p>Great thread even better idea but it won't happen with servers merging and the game shrinking there is no way they will open a new server and as someone else said there is no real way to enforce RP.</p><p>RP enforcement cannot be programmed.</p><p>Also it is highly unlikely that transfers have anything to do with AB or any other server crashing at this point, this happens EVERY year as new expansions launch this is common knowledge, new hardware or old hardware it  takes time for them to figure things out. I hate it as much as anyone else does but the fact of the matter is that after all the years SOE has been doing this they have gotten worse at it NOT better which in my line of work would get you fired.</p><p>Anyways on with the thread.</p>

Take some breaths, and go outdoors for your recreation. It will be ok. You'll have plenty of time to explore, do zones, raid and quest.</p>
