The streaming client, which I reluctantly switched to when DoV came out, keeps turning into a station.com launch thingy. EQ2 is not an option to launch from it, it has no idea who I am. I do not play any other SOE games. I keep downloading the new launcher and deleting that .exe and it is fine for a day. Then when I log in I get this same weird launcher that I have never seen until tuesday night pops up yet again, under its own volition. The launcher from EQ2maps works just fine and brings up the lovely, perfect and always reliable origional launcher that came with the game many moons ago. What I want to know is why is your launcher behaving like a spyware program? How can I keep using the same icon without having to delete an .exe and reinstalling a downloaded launcher you provide with a game that is 72 hours old? Additionally why doesnt this launcher from the DoV expansion recognize me or my characters and where is the autolaunch. I recognize new expansions are hectic and fraught with unforeseen glitches... this is mine.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you don't play anything but EQ II, you don't need Station Launcher. I prefer it myself, but it does not work with the streaming client. If Station Launcher is causing problems, you could uninstall it and see what happens. If you do, it's possible that some existing game shortcuts will break and have to be reset.

Did DoV force you to use the streaming client? I hope not.

-= Therendil =-

That is the exact problem, the station launcher or station.com thing keep installing in place of my eq2 launcher. The streaming client came up once after I installed DoV, after that, the very next time I logged in using the exact same icon on my desktop, it turned into the station.com launcher which offers some sort of chat service (not sure what it is, as it doesnt know who I am with my login info, I cant find out what it does). So being the resourceful guy I am I read the forums and went with the tech support solution of downloading the launcher they linked stating it would be the platform of choice coming soon. Fine by me, I downloaded it, deleted the .exe from my folder, "Repaired" instead of a total uninstall/install because I just loaded the thing from my DVD set, launched the game just fine. Played last night till server crash. Clicked the same icon I used last night this morning, and station.com comes up now, not the launchpad, or the streaming client or anything I have ever recognized. I cannot use it for anything, it doesnt have a connection to EQ2, it doesnt even know who I am when I enter my info. After a few minutes a little box comes up saying it cannot connect to chat service. I dont care if it cant connect, it doesnt bother me a bit that it is broken.... where is my EQ2 launcher? Why does the station.com thing keep coming back and usurping the EQ2 launcher?

Clearly not a crisis, I just would like EQ2 to launch from an EQ2 launcher that is suggested and referred to by EQ2 tech support without having to dive into folders and reinstall things which work right out of the box on my wifes computer.

That is so bizarre. I wish I had something useful to suggest, but I'm stumped.

I really want DoV, but not while issues like this keep popping up everywhere.

-=Therendil =-

If you right click on the icon you use on your desktop and select properties, what does it list under Target?

You could always delete the icon then browse to your streaming client installation folder and right-click the LaunchPad.exe file and select Send To > Desktop Shortcut and rename it as you deem appropriate.

I am stumped as well but I appreciate the effort.

I dont have the icon any more to tell you the Target, as I delete things that are useless and I did not intend on downloading, but if I remember right it said something about LaunchPad.exe. Which I have tried using straight from my eq2 folder and it loads the station.com chat launcher (i'm guessing), when I click "other games" it opens a website for DC universe. No clue what this launcher is or does but it definitely doesnt load EQ2 despite its name. My laptop and wife's desktop both have the same file and both open up the launcher that came with DoV, laptop was a clean install on a clean HD, my wife's desktop was done at the same time as my desktop in the same manner.

Thanks for taking the time to help here, I am just knowledgable enough to get my system in trouble.

Well I deleted the launchpad.exe and the installer file I downloaded tuesday and redownloaded the installer linked on another thread. It seems to be the streaming one... or maybe launchpad 3 I cant tell the difference and seems to be ok, but tomorrow will tell as this fix only works temporarily before the other launcher shows up.

But since Im on Everfrost... you have your hands full Im sure. Thanks again for your assistance, Ill keep my eyes peeled on the forums for a working solution if things go awry again.
