My voice chat only works intermittently. When I join the channel for the first time it'll work for about 15 seconds, then stop working. I am running both the voice service and the game itself as administrator. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for the help!

We have a great article on voice chat troubleshooting that may help you resolve your issues. The general first steps here would be to ensure your sound card drivers are up to date as well as DirectX 9.0c June 2010.

[EQII] Voice Chat FAQ

[DX9] June 2010

I suspect the problem I'm having is related to voice chat but I cannot be sure.

I can play for a while, and then I'll get the notification that I'm no longer in voice chat, that's always the first symptom, and then I'm lagging and getting all the indications that I'm going LD, then I crash to char select, and then get "server backlog" messages for 15-20 minutes before I can log in again. It seems to happen most often when I'm in groups in voice chat, but not always. I have also gone LD and subsequently to char select with voice chat turned off.

I've done everything- played in SL1 versus SL3, voice chat on, voice chat off, extreme performance, turning off the firewall and real-time scanning on the virus checker (Mcafee)... can't find a combination to prevent it. This started happening about a month or so ago, before the outage, probably around the time of the last LU.

I googled char select issues and found somehwere that said multiple instances of EQ might cause a problem, so I uninstalled everything - beta, test, extended, and live, and re-installed a fresh full-down live client from eq2players. No good. It seems to be a bit more stable, but I still crash to char select and I lost voice chat at least 5 times last night. This is getting old and I'm out of ideas.

System Information------------------Time of this report: 5/18/2011, 09:07:16Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.System Model: X58-USB3BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PGProcessor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 940 @ 2.93GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.9GHzMemory: 6144MB RAMAvailable OS Memory: 6142MB RAMPage File: 3736MB used, 8546MB availableWindows Dir: C:WindowsDirectX Version: DirectX 11DX Setup Parameters: Not foundUser DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)DWM DPI Scaling: DisabledDxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode

------------DxDiag Notes------------Display Tab 1: No problems found.Sound Tab 1: No problems found.Sound Tab 2: No problems found.Sound Tab 3: No problems found.Input Tab: No problems found.

--------------------DirectX Debug Levels--------------------Direct3D: 0/4 (retail)DirectDraw: 0/4 (retail)DirectInput: 0/5 (retail)DirectMusic: 0/5 (retail)DirectPlay: 0/9 (retail)DirectSound: 0/5 (retail)DirectShow: 0/6 (retail)

---------------Display Devices---------------Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580Manufacturer: NVIDIAChip type: GeForce GTX 580DAC type: Integrated RAMDACDevice Key: EnumPCIVEN_10DE&DEV_1080&SUBSYS_15803842&REV_A1Display Memory: 4063 MBDedicated Memory: 1503 MBShared Memory: 2559 MBCurrent Mode: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz)Monitor Name: Generic PnP MonitorMonitor Model: W2753Monitor Id: GSM56F6Native Mode: 1920 x 1080(p) (60.000Hz)Output Type: HD15Driver Name: nvd3dumx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvd3dum,n vwgf2um,nvwgf2umDriver File Version: 8.17.0012.7061 (English)Driver Version: 8.17.12.7061DDI Version: 11Driver Model: WDDM 1.1Driver Attributes: Final RetailDriver Date/Size: 4/8/2011 01:14:00, 12934248 bytesWHQL Logo'd: n/aWHQL Date Stamp: n/aDevice Identifier: {D7B71E3E-53C0-11CF-6740-8C351FC2C535}Vendor ID: 0x10DEDevice ID: 0x1080SubSys ID: 0x15803842Revision ID: 0x00A1Driver Strong Name: oem66.inf:NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1:Section0 28:8.17.12.7061:pciven_10de&dev_1080Rank Of Driver: 00E62001
