EMPTY CHARACTER LISTS - 2/22/11

<p>For Everfrost customers, you do need to follow these directions but the issue is not yet resolved server-side.  This is Everfrost specific.</p><p>For every other server, this seems to fix the issue with a majority of people experiencing the problem.</p><p>Browse to your EQ2 Game Folder (quickest way - right-click your EQ2 icon and select Open File Location)</p><p>Delete the following Folders and Files</p><p>LoginCache</p><p>LoginCache-US</p><p>_characters.ini</p><p>Now go ahead and log back in.  If it is still empty, log out completely and back in once more.</p>

<p>I have Windows 7 64-bit and was only able to find folder "Logincache-us". I deleted it, but am unable to find the other 2 files/folders: logincache and _characters.ini. Despite that, I tried relogging and was unsuccessful.</p><p>I ran a search for the last 2 files, but could not find them. Windows 7 seems to hide everything. Any suggestions?</p><p>Also, before deleting the Logincache-us folder, 4 of my 6 characters displayed. After the deletion, only 1 displays now.</p><p>P.S. I am on Everfrost server.</p>

It will create one for every account you login on that computer.</p>

<p>I ran the update this morning at around 9am central, then again later on, not sure of time. When I logged in servers where locked at 10am PST, but all my toons where there. I come back now and 3 were missing. When I followed the instructions given, I couldnt locate _characters.ini file, but deleted others. I ran game 3 or 4 different times and keeps telling me to make a new toon. Right now, I am trying a complete scan to see what happens.</p>

<p>I had checked on the game progress while it was updating. It might be those of us that had the patcher up at one point in the update process, but I tried to redownload the client and I also tried using Station Launcher to load it as well. Unless it's something server side for those of us that updated before it went live you've got me stumped.</p>

<p>This is happening to me now as well (Kasey's husband).  Client froze and crashed while clicking on the lilechen's and when I tried to log back in... yeah rise and repeat.</p><p>Josh the problem doesn't seem to be any bad cache -- it seems the auth server for Everfrost explicitly is "lame" and is not serving the correct character list/id's.</p>

<p>Josh, hopefully this will help in tracking down the problem:</p><p>1)  After the servers first came up, I was able to login just fine, sooth and easy. 5 mins later the wife couldn't.  When she entered character select it showed that Everfrost was down, a few seconds later it showed they were up.  When she clicked "Play" it came up with that couldn't locate character error and closed down the client.</p><p>2)  A few mins later I switched back on the shader 3.0's (requires client restart) and dejavous!</p><p>3)  Then you guys locked Everfrost.  Soon as it came back up, once again I logged in easy peezy.  10 mins later Kasey couldn't -- same thing again.</p><p>4)  MY client crashes during a bug, client closes -- Same issue with me again with servers showing they were DOWN then a few secs later they're up and when you click play you get the cannot find character error.</p><p>Also if it helps, <span style="font-size: large; color: #ff0000;"><strong>anyone having level 90 characters on Everfrost aren't getting their EXP BONUSES on other servers</strong></span> -- I just confirmed that...  Permafrost server acts as if Everfrost doesn't even exist and my "VETERAN BONUS" shows none even though I have a character max level on Everfrost atm.</p><p>Here are some facts -- People in my guild right now in Teamspeak are ALL having the same issues!  Half their characters missing, getting that error, etc.  I don't think its just a "select few" players, this is global to THE ENTIRE SERVER.  People that crash or restart their clients are finding they can't get back in!</p>

<p>Face it, they just recently merged blackburrow into everfrost, and the resulting population was too much.  Now we the customers are paying for the miscalculation as they let some accounts online tonight, and force others off.  I have a hunch we can forget getting onto Everfrost until those lucky ones that got online decide to go to bed and reduce the server load enough that we can finally play.  Grats for being unlucky enough to choose the wrong server and perhaps even the wrong game company.  I guarantee you this problem is considered minor, since virtually everyone else is happily getting their money's worth right now.  Who cares about such a small fraction of unhappy customers?</p>

<p>even odder I can log onto Splitpaw with zero problems..works absolutely fine, unfortunately dont have high level toons there to do any new content =/...EF still out though.  and the notes says Splitpaw is down so is VERY odd I can log on there easy enough.</p><p>another question....will there be a compensation or time extended on the Illusion Potion for everyone who CANT play due to this [Removed for Content]?</p>

<p>All my 90s are on Everfrost.  I can only access 4 of my characters on my main account which is all I've tried.  The Veteran Bonus is grayed out like they don't exist although two of the 90s show up on the character select screen. </p><p>What is going on with Everfrost? How about some answers here? No, it's not my patcher or my INI file.  My Antonia Bayle character on that account logs in JUST FINE (except for no vet bonus).</p><p>Why is it so much to ask for a N O R M A L launch of an expac, without huge glitches like this making the game unplayable for many?  And why just Everfrost?  Don't you guys get it? THIS MAKES YOU LOOK BAD.  So many of us want to say to friends, hey come play this great in-depth game ....... but don't mind the lag, the crashes, the bugs, and oh the server is down again....... no.  That you could get away with back in the day, but now the list of other games is dozens long and growing, and they are learning from YOUR mistakes.  Can't you?</p><p>/rant off</p>

<p>If I have read this right there are people on Everfrost that are currently in game ?  If this is true then I would ask if any of us that are having problems have you always been on Everfrost ? Most of my characters were orgionaly from Nektulos. Could there be a connection ? Unknown issue from previous server merges ?</p><p>I am in the same boat as most. Only see four of my characters. I have not deleated any of the files yet from the begining of this thread. Seems like might be wise to wait.</p>

<p>I've been complaining about these launchers here now for over a week.  When I've played some other games that use the Station Launcher over the years, when problems happened, more time than not, they said it was a problem with the launcher.  Now it's 2011 and guess what we are still having troubles with launchers.</p><p>Leeroy above is spot on in what he said.</p>

<p>First off you won't get nothing for this debacle, since people are playing on the server! If you are looking into the issue why is the server (everfrost) still up? I guess cause other servers are ok but the  2 or 3 servers having log in issues that is ok i guess. Now that a large amount of people are logged in i was wondering about the people who can't log in? i doubt you will be working through the night to fix this issue, so hoping that the next hour this will be up will be dumb on my part. I am just waiting for the post which will read "Sorry for the issue with the log in and we expect it to be corrected in a week when the credit card issue is corrected and oh btw here is your free bowl of soup you can put into your house for your patience. Just for the record i did what the 1st post said and i now have no char's and sorry for the rant i needed to get it off my chest. </p>

Once you delete the login cache it isn't making new files again when you try to login because it doesn't let you login.</p><p>*EDIT* This would also not explain why people who were logged in after the server came up the last time and then got booted for whatever reason can't log back in again.</p>

the server is coming down now, 6;45 pst, when its reset you should have a repopulated character list. following the procedure in this thread, ie deleting cache data has nothing to do with the issue the server was experiencing, it was for other servers, not ours. you can probably go ahead and stop deleting those files anytime. when the server comes back online, the cache data will be replaced as it should be...... if they actually fix the communication issue that caused it in the first place

<p>It would seem Rothgar here has a better grasp on things, my advice to you would be stop deleting files, and wait for them to fix this problem.  I've deleted, and redeleted, and deleted again, and I seem to be getting random results.  I lost all my characters for a while following what Josh here had said.  Then like a miracle I've got 4 back all of a sudden.  Something tells me once they FINALLY get this all worked out, all our characters will be right where they belong.  Without deleting more files over and over.</p>

I log in, go to the In-game support, service history and click on Questions.  It brings up my list of one question and when I click on the subject it goes back to the previous page and does not go into the discussion thread so I can read the last update and respond.  I have tried to access the question from three different computers now.</p><p>I am so frustrated. I am also from Everfrost, I can handle the servers crashing almost every night but loosing my people every time is driving me crazy. Is there any thing else I can try?

<p>On Everfrost.  Not really sure if its related.  I purchased an extra character slot weeks ago.  Worked fine up until tonight.  I deleted an unused toon, and it will not allow me to create another.  It's as if I am missing a character slot.</p>

<p>Can't login in Everfrost server.</p><p>I get the message:  character not found in server, re-run patch, etc</p><p>I see the character in character select screen, but when i choose play, the message above appears.</p><p>Also, if you try to create a new character it seems if you choose a male barbarian, it forces you to have a ratonga appearance and you get an error when you try to finish.</p>

<p>Looks like I have this as well, I haven't played in 2 years and came back this weekend.  My characters were on befallen and I was only able to delete the first file/folder as I can't locate the others.  Client and launcher are fully updated.</p>
