EU patcher does not work!

Update fails straight away - Unknown error has occured - retrying in 5 seconds.... rinse and repeat

So even if the servers are up (which seems to be questionable, it matters little as we cant get past patcher.

I'm using Station Launcher V1.1.9 Build 1.1.9.922079

US Version updates fine...

Yep, using Station Launcher here and getting it as well.Going to be a lovely night...

Okay.... found this thread finally. I have been having the very same trouble all day too. "an unknown error has occured". I usually play with someone but I made a solo character because he wasn't going to be able to play today and she's on Splitpaw. Now I can't get in there to do anything with her anyway.

And by the way, about a month ago we were having some trouble getting into EQ2 and were told by staff to get the Station Launcher. So now the answer is to go back to LaunchPad?

Hi Joshua,

I tried your Launchpad link because I thought that it's maybe a newer version of the launchpad and installed it into my existing eq2 directory but got a launchpad for the streaming client which wanted to download the full 14 Gig.

From EQ2-extended, which I had a while on my harddisk, I know that the streaming client files are incompatible to the files of a normal installation. Means Your tip to install the new launchpad into the existing eq2 dir is a bad idea. No wonder it helps people to use your link, all what it does is a completely new installation which can be played before all is downloaded because the streaming client can do that.

But that's not what we want, to completely reinstall the game. We want our old existing client properly updated.

What You say is that we europeans can't use our old clients any longer, have to delete our old installations, use the streaming client and have to completely redownload 14 GB.

I found also that the two links on the page http://launch.soe.com/eq2/ are a fake because both links providing streaming clients. The names of the 2 files are "EQ2_Full_setup.exe" and "EQ2_Streaming_setup.exe" but BOTH files are streaming client, means there is no longer a Full-setup-client.

But that's only the case for EU clients because US clients still can use the full-client.

Joshua, would be good if SOE ends the confusion for european players and either fix the full client or announce a clear statement that all european players have to delete their full-client installation and have to use streaming client including download 14 GB.

Again: I'm really shocked about this policy.

Also had the problem with the launcher. When we used the streaming download it asks for an activation code - which I don't think we have... do we need to get the full version download version or will this also be a required element?

We have had the account for 2+ years and purchased the digital download. Is there an activation code someplace we can retrieve it?

UPDATE: Nevermind, I went to a different post and found your answer to this question!

MY UPDATED QUESTION: Which file do we point this to? This is so tedious. Every bl**dy patch day is like a headless chicken race. So now I've changed patcher, and even though I pointed it as my EQ2 folder, it still wants to download 13GB - which is fine, because my server is still locked anyway (yes, 24 hours after expansion release!)

Well, the last 2 days (Sunday & Monday) there was no problem at all, but today - again - the error occurs once more.

And today is the race in the Butcherblock Mountains!!! (I am so angry right now....)

I've did all the same things, which I've documented already (see MY posting history) and I've done all the things you explained me. (see YOUR posting history)

Why does it not work any more? Is there any "if (randomday()==today()) do throw error" thingies???

Now what shall I do? How do I fix this?

I am paying for the game, and I thought it has been fixed the last two days - so I am rly p*ssed off...

Okay, sorry for my rude behaviour, that was not helpfully from me (frustrated, u know?)

I've done:

1) Switching from EU to US and back, installing the update (18MB) from US

2) deleted eq2_recipe_filter.vdl (other thread recommending that)

3) running everquest2.exe directly (with admin privileges of course, launchpad too, of course, every time)

4) removed eq2_recent.ini (to be sure, there is no misconfiguration)

5) checked "check streamed assets cache on startup" in options

6) Scanned Game Assets from options

7) deleted cache files

Any more proposals? i am running out of ideas... PLS help!

I've provided imho enough informations and if you need more, then TELL me pls!!

edit: Everquest ONE does run, is that of any help?

Has anyone managed to solve this problem? Patch after patch is released and nothing improves. I finally gave up and reinstalled Window 7 from scratch. Then I reinstalled EQ2. Well guess what, when I press play in LaunchPad.exe it starts loading, the screen goes black, and after a while I get that pixel shader error message. I am unable to play AT ALL since Velious was released.
