Cannot log in to my characters

<p>My characters are gone.  One was still there, but trying to log into him gives me an error.  </p>

<p>Same with mine. 1 was there and when I tried to log in it said server cannot find your character please exit and rerun the patcher, but when I did I returned to no characters.</p>

<p>I also get this error, however, half my character's show up, none of which can login as the error I get is "Can't find character on the server, please exit everquest2 and rerun the patcher".  After doing this (and removing the cache files), I still get the same errors.</p>

<p>Same here. Couple of characters missing. The server (nagafen) will first appear LOCKED - then after a few seconds appear ok, but when logging it the client tells me the server cannot find my characters and tells me to rerun the patcher.</p>

<p>my characters are missing.  did a full scan and it did not help.  i have 4 characters available and it would let me create a new character (i have the full 12 so that should not be an option).  i was able to log in my nagafen character with no issues; however, it told me to exit and rerun the patcher on one of my everfrost characters.  dont know how to do that, other than RUN FULL SCAN.</p>

<p>I now have one PC showing "Trying Login Server #!" and has been like that for 6 minutes.  I have other PC with other Account saying "Cannot find world Splitpaw" and throwing me out.</p><p>I've re-patched twice, even tried to get on a US rather than EU server. No good.</p><p>It's getting late here, soon be time to kip - I'd better still get my [Removed for Content] Othmir potions tomorrow though!</p>

<p>Works for me now, not sure if its what I did, but here is what I did.</p><p>Go into the folder EQ2 is installed, fine the file:  <AccountName>_character   and delete it.</p><p>Then go into the logincache-us folder and delete everything there.</p><p>Then go into the cache folder and delete characters.</p><p>Then rerun the patcher and do a full system scan.  (Or launcher to a full scan).  then start it up.</p><p>Like I said that's what I did and it works for me now.</p>

<p>I was able to log in my two Nagafen characters, but could only do one of my Permafrost characters (I have 5 on Permafrost).</p><p>Select Character screen shows only two of my Permafrost characters, and the one I cannot log onto is the one I was last on just before the servers went down at 3 AM PST (or so I thought).</p><p>Remainder of my 7 characters are not listed on select character screen.</p><p>Have logged out and back in several times -- same story.</p>

<p>We are testing a few solutions as we have been able to reproduce this issue now.  The fix for a few scenarios has been fairly simple.</p><p>Browse to your EQ2 folder and delete the logincache and logincache-us folders and let me know if you can now see your characters.</p>

<p>Everfrost is being worked on with full force here, we'll get it resolved.  For everyone who followed my instructions and now see a blank character select screen, do not be worried, characters are stored server side and this simply means that Everfrost, with it's issues, is not sending you your character list.  Once Everfrost is repaired, your characters will return. </p>

So yeah...its stuff like this that makes me wonder why I keep giving sony my money every month and buying each new expansion when I know I won't be able to enjoy the content through the lag or crashes or log in issues for at least a week after it goes live. Don't get me wrong, I am not leaving the game, or threatening too...and any complaints will fall on deaf ears, I just realized that I have spent $179.88 per year(not counting the extra $ spent in years before eq2 players was free) since November of 2004... Worldwide discos aren't looking really promising at this point,lol.

<p>Same issue for me with Everfrost.  My 6 characters down to 4.  I did clear cache/delete ini, no luck.  I then uninstalled EQ2 and reinstalled and it actually let me play for 10 minutes.  Of course, it was busy re-downloading 12G of data.  Ultimately, server went back down.</p><p>That said, and I know this is a minor point, the hairstyle on my dark elf fury was changed to some monstrosity.  Don't know what's going on with Everfrost today, but this may be the biggest travesty of all.  <tongue firmly implanted in cheek>.</p><p>Wanted to get some discoveries.  Ah well, will settle for some playtime!  Thanks for the work on this Joshua.</p>

We are already behind in gear, we would have been through 2 if not 3 zones by now. SOE could sort it ut by passing out EXP pots to make up for the lost time, but hey we can always buy those with station cash... Right? Not gonna happen.</p>

<p>The problem with the "Rerun the patch file" error message is that there's really not a patch file, it's being done through launchpad.  Server may be up, but still have same issue with only 4 out of 6 characters and not being able to find them in zone (prompting the error message above).</p>

The problem is on their end. The only thing to do is sit back and wait for them to fix the issue. This is pretty much the way things go. I love the EQ game franchise, but lets be honest, something like this happens on every launch date of every expansion. Everfrost has been down for 13 hours, I expect it will be fully functional just in time for all the servers to be brought down for an emergency patch.

<p>I am seriously thinking about canceling my account now.  SOE for some unknown reason can never get an expansion launched without causing massive trouble in the user community.  This has been the case ever since SOE acquired the Everquest franchise.</p><p>I have followed your suggestions, deleting the logincache_us folder and <account>charachters.ini file</p><p>I tried loging in again and got my characters back but server was locked and this matched the server status page so I was not concerned.</p><p>Later the server status page showed Everfrost as up and ready (green dot).</p><p>Went to login and all my characters were gone and only had a create charachter option.  Followed first suggestions and went to login, and all my characters were gone and only had a create charachter option.  Restored the last logincache_us folder and <account>charachters.ini file and  went to login, and all my characters were gone and only had a create charachter option. </p><p>OK, what NOW, what do the USERS have to do SOEs troubleshooting?  I normally get paid $60/hour to do this.</p>

This is the identical scenario that was happening then, has nothing to do with the expansion, unless of course if it is a load issue, which it really appears to be but I can only see what is happening client side.</p><p>I'm sure we will be told when it is fixed, probably not going to be told what it was though. or offered any kind of in game compensation to make up for a pretty big loss in time, opportunities for discovery the things we look forward to in the beginning of an expansion.</p>
