I am currently locking my level to try and max out my AA’s (currently 245) and working through TSO content.

Whilst I have been brushing up on my rusty knowledge the one thing I can’t find is any information about which armour to wear mid level 80’s.

I currently solo and Duo, don’t raid at the moment.
I think your probably fine with that armor until you head over to Velious. At that point you'll get Legendary armor via quests that maximize the new stat changes (strictly Str / Sta for SK's) and can change out then. For solo / duo though what you have is more than adequate for TSO questing.

Depends on where you are locked but I agree iwth Nahlis, if I were oyu I would go to Velious and start doing the solo quests, the armor is excellent. I believe I have 130 crit mit now with just the trash rewards. I think the armor is 85 or 87 I can't remember, but you might as well unlock honestly or at least run 50/50 since honestly, noone is going to want a non-90 tank.

There is no need to rush to 90 although with the mentoring system there is some benefit.

However, since you're in your mid'80's already I would suggest to get to 86, lock there if you want to preserve your level, and grab the armor from the entry DOV Othmir quests in Icy Fingers. That armor is far superior to anything you can get from Kunark, TSO and even SF up to X2 content. Gear up and then go do what ever it is you like with much more confidence and success.
