Hmm, EQ2 is highly CPU bound running a lot on the CPU which should be on the GPU and doesn't make good use of multiple processors (to be fair no game I know of does beyond 2 cores, but EQ2 kind of uses 1.2 cores max...).Whereas WoW and Lotro are highly GPU bound and almost do not care what CPU you are using, for example WoW runs at low settings with max view distance smoothly on my laptop with its rather slow ATI HD2600 GPU whether the CPU was 1.5Ghz or 2.4Ghz, whereas EQ2 went from running in high performance to running in high quality (with shadows turned off) on the same upgrade. But that said you should be playable there with settings on somewhere between medium and high I would guess.Firstly that graphics card is decent, its almost the same speed as my desktops ATI 4870 according to Toms hardware and on that I find enabling shader 3.0 gives me a performance boost (slight over land - 10/20% at best, but can be massive indoors - 100% at times). You definitely will also want to make sure that if any shadows are enabled that they are GPU ones (you'll need to click advanced options on the graphics options panel to play with the settings). On the 4870 I actually find no performance difference between low and high quality shadows too, but you can try the settings there.Other than that you are left with playing with the settings, flora, lighting, character detail etc, setting the complex shader distance to not be too far helps, as things in the distance do not need to be highly detailed anyway. Whatever you do though I think some areas will be taxing on most setups, most of the Sentinels Fate overland zones, Kunzar jungle and the water fall area in the Moors of Ykesha cause my setup to slowdown, but setting things low enough for these areas would be an overkill then in other game areas so I live with it. Things are getting better with the graphics engine (and they've improved massively over the past 2 years) but its a slow process, I know whenever the AMD Bulldozer launches this year I'll be hopping onto that though as the best surefire upgrade apart from an Intel Sandbridge (my AMD PhenonII 955 3.2Ghz runs on extreme, but does slow down in the zones I mention above).

A few things to make sure of to get the performance you are supposed to.

First, the obvious, ensure all of your drivers are up-to-date. Check nvidia.com for the latest available drivers.

Second, run the Windows Experience Index (for Windows Vista/7). If this is not run, performance will suffer greatly. You get there by right-clicking My Computer and selecting properties. Click directly on the text link that says "Windows Experience Index". On the following screen, click on Update score (not sure what the option is called if it has never been run before).
