So, I took a break for a while, and I am back. What happened to the overlord? is he back? did we find him? where is he? Any news/stories you can share are much appreciated!

Yeah. We "rescued" him from Theer, he didn't thank us for doing so because he says he could have released himself anytime he wanted. He's back in control of Freeport now, but the city is no closer to being repaired than it was a year ago.

Also the power of his Soulfire sword was drained.

Whaa? So he is no longer "eternal" and could die at any moment? or am I confused? Does this make him a brittle weak old fool that no one should fear? How is Freeport any kind of evil now?

Yeah, he never relied on the Soulfire's power to rule over Freeport. He just liked to wave it around. Any other ordinary sword would work just as threateningly.

If he lost the sword, it would be taken as a sign of weakness. Having Soulfire drained and then recovering the sword doesn't really hurt him as long as rumors of this don't circulate around Freeport until after he's re-established control. Though, for Lucan's own good he may wish to find a replacement weapon. Something equally legendary and a symbol of power.

So if you are a loyal subject of Freeport that is willing to donate your envenerated epic weapon to a worthy cause and pose as an enemy of Freeport and be publically executed Uncle Lucan Wants YOU!

Or maybe if the Avatar of Marr appears in the commonlands again the Lucanic Knights could zerg him until Lucan can loot a full set of avatar gear...
