View Full Version : Usefullness or Uselessness of Poisons therefore.........

With the upcoming Velious Addon and the increase in DPS and adorments poisons have become more or less obsolete.

In Beta it was already a topic that potency should effect poisons but there's more needed.

Let's see where we are :

DD- Poisons: Parses von High End scouts have shown that over 150k DPS, the dps generated by posions is between 800 -1200 DPS and funnily enough that the Sins "Applying Poison" proc does more dmg on a raidfriend than poisons for them....

Debuff Poisons: There are much more powerfull yellow/red adorments and war runes based debuffs which are more or less an upgrade to the poisons.....

Detaunt/ Ignorant Bliss:: With hitting way over 100k dps constantly the 1,7-2,4k detaunt that the mastercrafted version gives seems not enough. Again there are much more powerfull adorments and war runes based detaunts....

Altogether the poisons need to be changed into something more desireable, e.g the mastercrafted Detaunt Poison should have a positional decrease rather than an amount based detaunt.

At this moment the only usefull poison is fettering poison for soloing............

Something needs to be done with poisons. Being affected by potency would certainly be nice, and to be honest, I don't think I quite understand why the felt they needed to be lumped into the proc change when they removed the ability for procs to crit, why something that was only usable by 4 classes to begin with is restricted in such a way didn't make sense. For the most part the main reason I use poisons is basically what else am I going to use.

Ignorant bliss will need more then just allowing potency to effect it to make it truly worthwhile. Evade and stalk for my ranger for instance hit for about 5-7k consistently on my ranger. They would need to change the base numbers on bliss, or find a way to have it scale up with potency more then the current detaunts like evade and stalk do currently.

When I was testing on beta my poisons were lucky to do 800 dps, this is with 10 AAs stuck into improving them (6% trigger chance, 15% damage).

Poison damage is now < 1% of my parse. By the time we are finishing DoV and have end game gear, I expect it to be less than 1/2% of my parse. Considering it costs several plat a night to keep them running they really need some type of change.

The only real deagro/detaunts that are worthwhile are the positional ones.

Fendaria

Instead of ignorant bliss being positional with the increase of the deagro % cap to 100% how about adding a 15-20sec buff to ignorant bliss 10% negative hate gain on top of the detaunt.

And they all should be effected by potency. That would at least allow them to scale with CA's that get bigger with potency.

De-aggro cap is not 100%, not now, not in DoV. Think about it for a sec.

Now for red poisons I only use the lifetap or power tap ones since they at least have a usefull effect other than damage. The caustic were doing such trivial DPS that even if I stoped using any poisons I would not notice a significant difference to my parse. All they have to do is make potency and crit bonus affect poisons... I'm pretty confused as to why they haven't done so already.

Poisons don't crit anymore remember.

Poisons are only used by 4 classes, it's not like mages, fighters, bards, priests were all using poison to skyrocket their dps parses up. They should have been treated as profession abilities and allowed to crit and be modified instead of how they were treated.
