TL;DR: Read the thread.

I remember a time when you could zone into any number of zones and find groups and even raids worth of people PvPing. I remember fighting in the Sinking Sands. Fighting over Terrorantula. I remember hunting bots for tokens in the Silent City. I remember the epic fights on Whisperwind Island in Barren Sky. I remember hunting down the groups of bots in the same zone. I remember fighting all through Palace of the Awakened. I remember fighting over Avatars in GFay and at the back of Lavastorm. I remember my raid parachuting onto the island to kill Hurricanous after an epic 1-2 hour brawl with both of the other two factions. 80+ people in the zone fighting over one mob. I remember a shadowknight training down to the bottom of Sanctum of the Scaleborn and hitting my group with chiller bombs and then killing our group because we also had mobs on us. I remember massive fights at the spires while people waited to be ported up.

I also remember the day that the Venekor (server) died. It would take a while longer for it to be officially pronounced dead and to be merged with Nagafen, but I remember the day that it died... The day that the Euro servers were merged with Venekor. There was PvP everywhere. There were new names on track! I played a troubador at the time and I could tell you before i engaged if i was going to be able to kill whoever it was, but now there were new names! And they were everywhere. There was a truly epic battle that day in the commonlands, near the spire. Den of Madness was holed up near the Wailing Caves with an x4, there were multiple large raid groups from both Qeynos and Freeport. There was lag, and lots of it. I pushed my buttons, then I counted to 20 or even 30 before I saw them casting. And even through all that lag... it was FUN. I remember doing all of that with legendary gear from instances and the occasional raid peice from my guild's raiding. I remember standing a chance against even the best geared character. All I had to do was know how to play my class well.

Now you can PvE almost completely in peace in the current tier zones. I ran from Paineel, up to dartain, accross to Tox's Mound, took the portal to SH, ran from the zone in to moonfeild, ran from there to Quelwhatchamacallit, from there down to the mausoleum and through Deepwater Pavillion, then back up to the Library zone ins. How many people did I see? None. How many flags? 20 or so. It's rare to see a group in a zone. It's rare to see a raid, even at the warfields. Flags have killed the need to use those zones. Sure the people are online, but they don't need to run accross 2 zones to do their instance, they just have one guy take a portal to the zone, then run to a flight-pad and fly to the zone, drop the flag and zone in. They can do all of that with immunity still ticking. Warfeilds aren't much better. I often see flags right next to the towers. People don't even fight anymore, they just run in to die mindlessly. The PvP gear is now so much better than mastercrafted that you NEED to have it to stand a chance, and it just feels like farming. It's not fun anymore.

There are threads on the front page which haven't been posted in for over a month. That in itself tells you how far we've fallen. I remember a time when it was rare to see a thread on the front page that was older than a day or two. I remember when it was the same for the server forums, when there was a great community on the pvp servers. Sadly those days are over. The forums and the game itself are in decline, and I dont think we're that far from the bottom.

Back in the day, when Vox PvP was at its height, I created a character on Nagafen just to check it out (never past level 3 at that time). I remember zoning into zek and watched the most epic battle I have ever seen take place at the fort right there by the zone in. x6 vs x6 vs x6 vs x6. Two Exile Guilds, one Q and one Freep. There were so many people there and so many numbers flying I was in pure awe of the sight. I saw it from start to finish. Simply Epic.

I miss those days. That Hurricanus fight was a good time. I remember going to do a raid zone and seeing another raid on the way and you ended up screwing the PvP for some good pvp fights. I remember getting banned from the forums for 2 weeks for being mean to people. When I could take Denna out and I could have several good fights, and it was actually fun, not get auto attacked one, get hit with 6 procs and die.

I hate to see PvP in the state it is. It makes me sad. I have tried playing on a blue server, but it just isn't the same. I constantly hit "q" and "e" to see if there are PvP targets, but it does nothing, and the same BG's over and over are lame.

If I wasn't in Afghanistan, I'd probably be logged in right now sitting around LFG for something while I played xbox. At this rate, I'm just sticking around till TOR comes out. Hopefully that won't go the way of most of the other games that have come and gone over the years. I have high hopes for it, and will miss the EQ2 world a lot and the friends I have made, but it has lost the magic it once had.

Don't forget to mention access quests. You no longer have to have everyone in the group run around and do an access quest, and most likely find pvp along the way. Now you can just zone into any zone you want without even having to do a quest most of the time. Access quests were part of it, flags were a part of it, and instances all added to it. Funny isn't it that the downfall of pvp was caused by the pve content being changed to be easier for the people on the blue servers mainly who wanted to get into the game, do something, and be done in an hour or so.

In conclusion, the people we must blame are casual players. Once pvp games get casual players, they decline. And i don't mean i expect people to be able to log on every day for 12+ hours, I know most of us aren't able to play that much... but people who play more should definaitly get more stuff than people who don't play very much.

Developers or whoever is making these rules do not understand yes people complain, in any mmo aswell as life, people are going to complain to you about the difficulties and life not being fair, but just because u hear your child complain about things over and over you dont given to all thier demands and make a game easier giving them treats for almost no work put in, that does nothing but create a spoild brat who you have no controll over, in this case it creates an easy game which gets boring after one month of achieving everything u can get solo, and gets the subscriber to question if they should even continue to pay for thier monthly now that they have accomplished everything they were going to get out of pvp , and the only reason they were playing your product was for your PVP.....

when you consolidated tokens you shouldnt have droped all prices of items, you should have uped all the prices, instead by lowering all prices, aswell as giving us 5 more tokens per one we alredy had you allowed some of us pvp players full pvp gear on multiple toons, i know i had thousands of tokens when that happend......

Why would i need to continue to pvp if ive gotten enough currency for multiple suits of armor on different toons?

writs, were a horrible idea, keep the player out in real world without immunity for more time without looking at the clock , when they refill writs they usually log out , Token drops encourage solo and small group pvp....

Warfields were dumb, pvp is not PVE, attacking a PVE target for a long time to get pvp rewards is ridiculous.

No immunity anywhere, makes it more realistic and more intense of a game which inturn makes the game more enjoyable, this goes with difficulty of gain and it becoming more rewarding,

Highly increased pricing on all pvp items, again this goes with difficulty of gain and it becoming more rewarding,

You could easily increase open world pvp by just making the world bigger for a open world pvp server, making it impossible to port, rally point, or use scripted mounts in the game, making everyone have to travle through the maps more to get to places and walk across the live zones,

create loss to dieing in pvp, dieing currently has no meaning , in general as well, keeping a person from wanting to die, creates for a far more enjoyable fight it is that sting that grants the victor a little more satisfaction, granted it is painfull for the person dieing, losing fame (for pvp) or experience (for pve) but is nessasary for making a game in general that much more enjoyable. the developers should take a phych or somthing to understand how a person's mind works in order to understand how they place value, and what gets them to keep playing.

A game with great difficulty coupled with great reward is what people yurn for, you cant give everyone what they want in life, life just isnt fair, but if you want to keep people playing your product your going to need to understand the difference from what a players needs are (to keeping the want or need to play) and from what a player simply wants (everything handed to them) gets them happy or quite for a small amount of time and keeps them from complaining about what they were complaining about, but it also makes them lose interest..

Kinda like an imulated server or MMO that people create on personal servers, you can summon the best gear in the game, which is cool for about a second, then you get bored with the game because so can everyone else.... doesnt make you very special or different from anyone else, this goes with PVE asewell as PVP wish i had the developers ear or talking to when it came to MMOs =P

Guys you said it all those were the days. I agree take out the tokens make it all faction base to buy pvp gear once again. Remove bg tokens for pvp gear on servers. If the Blue Seavers want pvp gear make them come to a pvp server to get it. Take out the instant carnage flag of entering in a starting zone, t2 pvp is where you should learn your toon.

I miss Darathar.

I miss getting to raid zones before guild halls ... that was a challenge. I can remember going to a raid zone in LS and having group invis on only for someone to break it picking up a shiny, then spending what seemed like a hour pvp fighting to zone in.

I remember logging a freep and sending a tell to a freep friend when coming across a 'bot' and getting them ganked.. over and over again...

I remember Ardeen, omg he was awesome! I was a Qeynos warden and he was my FP Warden hero.

And Notso, yes I think I was the only other member in your Notsovilepriest Fanclub Guild

I remember getting kicked from a group for healing a solo freep who was getting pwnd by a scorpion in SS... /sigh

Then we moved to Ven, settled in nicely, found new heroes in the form of Den of Madness and the server felt alive. Then people and guilds started moving to Naggie and once again boredom set in.

Once I started rolling freeps just to kill people I despised on Qeynos side I swapped to PvE.. yes I am now blue.

So much has changed I doubt I'd recognise PvP if I logged into Naggie.
