I need help

How do I choose what's a good casting order? I know that's probably really basic for people that have played the game for a long time. But I mean when I look at a spell and it's information, what do I look at to choose to cast it first over a different spell.

From reading some forums and posts, I precast on a scout the prismatic chaos and then i follow up with ultraviolet beam as much as I can when it's up for casting; but then after that I'm not sure how to choose what to put on bar to really be good dps and still be able to keep mana regen on group going.

any help is really appreciated

Your Nightmare should be cast prior to your beam etc because it lowers the resist's.

Also you should try and get Words of Pure Magic from the Isle of Marr,,and dont forget Brainburst etc.

Brainburst is part of my rotation. Not sure what you mean by Words of Pure Magic from Isle of Marr(did you mean Mara) and isn't that a language quest?

Thank you for suggestion by the way, but still doesn't tell me what to look for in order to move my spells around to make the most sense in how to cast them :/

Yes Mara,i have been away from the game for awhile im sure if your look up Words of Pure magic you will find what i am speaking of,it is just another fast cast spell.

As far as casting there is not much but to just recast often and with whatever you have up or available,

Prismatic Chaos often as you can, groups of mobs Chromatic Storm and what not but Dismay and nighmare again when up doesnt hurt because they do damage.

What is 'words of pure magic' spell? There is a quest called Words of Pure Magic that gives druzaic language. I don't recall getting any spells from Mara, hmm. Did I miss a spell somewhere?

I start with my group buffs on countdown to pull. Hitting my prismatic target right on pull, then I go for beam, nightmare, beam, that other dot, beam, and keep hitting damages in between each beam. Throw Prismatic chaos up everytime it refreshes with the beam before and after. Hit the 2 dots again only after they expire and do their damage. I keep the mana spell going whenever it refreshes, the one that sucks from mob to group. I hit my group buffs again when they get refreshed and keep on with the prismatic, beam, damage, etc.

You can use the stuns in there when you don't have anything up yet unless you really need to stun like in cella and some encounters. If the tank seems to be getting damage, I will throw doppleganger up.

Keep an eye on your group's power. Furies and bards seem to suck power so you will probably have to mana flow them periodically. I use savant and mana cloak every time they are up. I don't have the best dps among illies, but my group usually stays topped up on power unless its some fight mechanic that sucks it away. I like to get at least 10k on a raid fight unless I am spending time dead or learning strats.

With time warp, its nice to time it with a bard's VC and a conjuror's 'big nice thing they have'. Remember not to cast the dots with the time warp, just prismatic and pure nuke spells.

Thank you Klive for the input.

I'm not sure what this Isle of Mara thing is...

Perhaps he meant Word of Force. That was a spell that came from the Splitpaw Saga that did more damage than most mage nukes, but had a higher power cost. It doesn't scale as well as Beam at higher lvls, though, especially if you research/adept III/master it.
