Is it really so much to ask for them to actually GET SOMEWHERE with the Erollisi Day questline? We literally have to wait a full year just to learn 7 more lines of dialogue. Just cut to the chase and bring her back already. You can create E-Day storylines that involve her being alive too you know.

What did we learn this year? That Erollisi possibly isn't dead. Thats it. She's not dead, and the Patron of Drinal only mourns for the dead woman who betrayed the Order of Marr and assumably became Ulkoruuk, because the patron himself is the guy she killed.

What will we get next year? A line of dialogue saying she can be brought back?

And then in 2013, we learn how to bring her back.

In 2014, we find someone who can bring her back

In 2015, we go gather the ingredients for the ritual.

In 2016, we go complete the priest's shopping list.

In 2017, we go find a pain remedy for the stubbed toe that the priest recieved while walking to the place where the ritual would be performed.

In 2018, we fight off alien pirate lagomorphs who interupt the ritual.

..I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but throw us a bone here and just get to the finish for goodness sake. I know the developers have been working hard lately, so much that they couldn't even put E day on Test to test things out first, but we need more content to resolve this storyline, and we need to resolve it soon. It's just dragging on and on. Lets continue this story outside of Erollisi Day please.

Even THAT would actually be a conclusion to the story though. It would be enough reason to start a new chapter for once, and not just turning the page.

Kaitheel kind of answers the question in this video (near 21:05):

Valentine's Day Preview Webcast - 2/3/11

Question: "Will we see Erollisi return?"

Answer: "That is something that we cannot say," "There are those of us who really want, and there are others that think that the story is progressing the way it is. There's different camps, that's why there's no definite answer."

[EDIT]

Also here (near 9:49), EverQuest II - Destiny of Velious Dev Chat 1

Question: "Will we be seeing more of the story events, such as the Marr twins, or perhaps a trip into the Shard of Valor?"

Answer: "So, the first part of those, those we're not really focused on at the moment," "But the other stuff, yeah, currently it's kind of shelved as far as what we're going to do with that, so you won't really see anything about the Marr twins or Shard of Valor or anything at the moment."

Progressing? I really don't know. I'm bored now. Nearly 6 years and Erollisi is not exactly dead ... dead, but not dead. And Selena, what's the point of bringing her up, especially when it's one brief quest and nothing more.

And ... so ... okay? This relevation, if it's called that, isn't very gripping. Sorry, you devs probably got a lot on your hands, but honestly ... this isn't quite intriguing.

I have to agree with others here, this storyline is dragging on. Either kill Erollisi or bring her back. While I personally would like to see her return, more than that I'd like closure to this painful chapter of Norrathian Lore. It has been 2 real years already. It seems like it will be 3 real years before you can advance past the point that was set up 2 years ago. While last years quests added a bit of Lore to the story, it didn't advance events in the leist. This year was even worse, as all we really got was reinforcement of Lore we learned last year.

Knowing that Erollisi isn't in the Etheneer doesn't really give us any information that we didn't already know. I don't think a single person in Lore suspected that Erollisi might of been stripped of her divine status before she was killed. Now people might say that, but I'd bet that nobody really suspected this before this years quest.

What people did expect was for Morrel Thull to become a worshipable diety and somehow be involved in bringing Erollisi back. Nothing happened with that storyline either. A decent alternative would be for Morrel to make a power grab and take over Love as an aspect of his worship. Dreams and love seem like a decent match. One of the nature spirits could rise to full diety status and take over the aspect of hunting. Alternatively Tallon Zek could make a bid for god of hunters, though he has been more of a war deity and less of a day to day hunter.

Talking about nature spirits and Love, Tunare could take over both portfollios with hardly any complaints from anybody. Tunare has shown great compasion for all life, and nobody doubts her love for her children. Currently she represents Growth (a really wierd portfollio, especially for a God of Influence), but could easily claim Hunting and Love especially with full support from her races and other good beings.

It was nice to get a smattering of information on Durienal. That is one diety where lore really doesn't exist. It would be nice to see more, but we don't need to see Erollisi as bait to do so. Or if Erollisi is going to be used this way, advance the dam story. Don't just taunt us with her name, especially on her holiday.

Oh, and if your worried about her holiday some advice: Don't. If a new god is made, just change the name. If another god moves in, change the name. If Erollisi returns no problem either. If no god take over the positon, then players will demand to keep running the event as is and you can continue to doddle on like you have been except maybe with less Ullurrokk quests? Honestly, really getting sick of betrayal quests on Love day. Love is more traditionally associated with Hate than Betrayal. Inny is suppose to be involved. Having some evil quests to disrupt Erollisi day in the name of Innoruuk would make more sense than what we have been getting. Better yet, give Inny his own holiday (which is suppose to exist according to Tier'dal lore!) and have Ullurrokk steal his thunder for once!

p.s. When does Rallos get his own holiday? Vetran's day yo!

I'm amoung those that just want a [Removed for Content] conclusion to the story. I'm sick of it tbh, they can always come up with quests that are interesting that don't have to deal with her death / rebirth / [Removed for Content] she is now but have to do with love in general when the holiday comes again.

This years quest sorta struck me as a "omg we've been swamped with Velious and we need something NOW" type of thing. Perhaps they can continue (and conclude!) the questline in one of the GU's later this year?
well the story to me wasn't a complete waste....they just didn't give it enough backing. basically it's the preistess/priest of love figures/assumes now that new information has come to light (SF) that if Theer, the Godslayer, was in teh Void...how would E. Marr die? the logical conculsion to come to is she had to be forced into a situation to make her mortal.

so they send you to basically contact Drinal, Norrath's Grim Reaper, to find out if she was forced to mortality adn killed. we learn that no, she hadn't...and the Drinal's Steward is apparently the mortal knight that E.Marr had kissed and his jealous lover had butchered. the Priestess of the Silver Reaper also hints that Drinal had eyed him to become a demi-god to himself. probably during that near death experience where Erollisi saved him.

when we talk to Drinal's Steward, he claims we were there to speak of Selena. and that she is not dead, but not whole. Selena is, the woman that was the Steward's mortal lover that in jealousy butchered him. why he thinks we'd be there to speak of her if questionable.

My theory on it is that in the Shard of Love, when Mithaniel breaks the coffin, there's a swirl of lights that we assume to be the essence of E. Marr. out of that coffin after the light shines is a black mass that flows along the ground..and dissipates. Many take this as perhaps Mithaniel's grief...I'm wondering if it's not part of Selena(Ulloruuk)'s essence. this explains why Selena is 'alive but not whole' and perhaps her essence mingling with E.marr is stopping/hindering her reformation. kinda of hard to reform Love with Betrayal in the mix.

and speaking of such, it would be hard to reform Valor with Betrayal in the mix too. transfering a portion of her essence into Mithaniel and then killing him might hinder/prevent his reforming as well.

Yes, you could say that.

But the quest is weak. We were sent to gather objects and visit certain people. We get to have some answers to some questions - the answers which aren't exactly what we're looking for.

And so, we're back at the square one again. For another year, probably.

Hmm, its not as if a God cannot kill another god, Rallos slaughtered the Raethe council (1 or all i forget atm) on Norrath, and their bodies formed into the Raethe mountians.

He brought them to Norrath, which i assume is the "mortal realm" where Gods even become weakened to a point they can be killed. This may be something that happened with E.Marr. ... where was the original portal into the Plane of Valor in eq1?

Ragnaphore

There was no portal from Norath to Plane of Valor in EQ1, you could only go there from Plane of Knowledge.

Cusashorn
02-12-2011, 09:20 PM

Yeah the Plane of Knowledge was connected to the Plane of Tranquility, which itself was connected to every other plane save for Hate, Fear, Sky, Mischief, and Growth. They were introduced on Norrath before the Planes of Power, and only Growth, Mischief, and Fear had physical portals leading to them.

Gods are very killable, even on their respective planes where they are their strongest. What does that mean? Not very much. Its merely a setback at most.

Gods don't die like mortals do. Why do you think Anashti Sul was banished rather then killed? Rohen Theer followed a different set of rules (remember, the Nameless creates and changes the rules as it sees fit, what it says it how it all works), which is why when he slew a god, they stayed dead and why when he was killed by mortals, he's toast.

When you can go through 4 years worth of storyline in a couple hours, that shows that you need to really do something to finally finish things up.
I love hearing about Ulkorruuk, personally. I find her very interesting. However I'm in the camp that thinks it needs to end already. This refers mainly to the Erollisi thing, but unless Ulkorruuk is essential to future expansion lore or something, it also should be wrapped up soon.

EQ2 has a great story but your average player never gets to see it. It's all oldschool raids that few people run, long heroic questlines, and small bits of lore tossed to us that cause us to speculate endlessly for months. The lore-rich solo content like the E-Day quests is dragged out for years. Having never played Everquest, I'm glad that I found a friend when I started playing EQ2 that knew the lore and helped guide me through all this stuff, or I wouldn't have a clue.
