Since yesterday mornings server-down period I have not been able to complete the update necessary to play the game. I waited till after this mornings server-down period to try getting on again, but had the exact same problem. When the update process reaches 100% it stops, and a window opens that says:

"update error: there was a problem moving C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIlp_tempEverQuest2.exe_delta_10086_382.patched to C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIEverQuest2.exe. Please make sure the game is not running.

Station launcher will try again after 5 seconds"

The game is definitely not running, but in the folder "C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIlp_temp" there is no file by the name of "EverQuest2.exe_delta_10086_382.patched". Could this be the problem, and how do I fix it?

It took around 10 hours to install the game initially, and I absolutely do not want to re-install the game unless it is absolutely necessary

Also, I have done a clean start-up, and that did not make any difference in outcome.

You can start by browsing to that path and deleting the LP_Temp folder. This will prompt the process to start over from the file it was on.

You may also need to clear out your temporary game files.

You may want to make backups and then delete the following files and folders:cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniTo do this, please follow these directions:1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the default directory in (for Windows XP): C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II (for Windows Vista/7): C:Program DataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C:3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory.4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them. 5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher.

I've had the same issues. I did all the above and nothing has helped. I'm running as Admin also

I've been having the same issues. I been playing this game for years and years, but lately SOE seems to just break things more and more. I don't recall ever having so many troubles years past as I do now with patchers, launchers and such constantly not working right. And having to keep screwing with my files, to make things work again. Seriously guys, get on the ball here, your wrecking a great game.

We have since updated our launcher method to LaunchPad 3 which repairs many of these issues. You are all still using the Station Launcher or older methods. We've long since phased them out but will still support it. The reason we released LaunchPad 3 was to repair these types of issues specifically.

I am a player myself from beta til this very day and have never had an lp_temp issue when using Station Launcher or any other method. We simply have to handle these issues on a case by case basis.

LaunchPad 3 is available here, http://launch.soe.com/eq2

Update on my situation... I have followed the instructions of TSR-JoshuaM and deleted all those files, and it didn't change a thing. I STILL can't get the Sony Station launcher to patch. I continue to get the same message somebody else above already posted.

Wait a sec that link you provided gets us the dedicated EQ2 launcher, which I had and was working just fine. It's the Station Launcher that wasn't patching. I deleted that thinking this new launcher was the one to replace it, now I got 2 of the same EQ2 dedicated launchers.

/sigh

and

/shakes head

Install a fresh copy using the link I have above, then copy your previous data over. The new path is c:userspublicsony online entertainmentinstalled games. That's the path you want to use as programdata is a protected folder which can cause issues with permissions, causing you not to be able to patch.

Make sure you are always running everything, the installer and the launchpad, as an administrator. Right-click the icon and select run as admin.

What the error is saying is that the LaunchPad was unable to create that file to begin with and subsequently move it to it's proper location. This is only caused by not being able to write to that particular folder (or if you somehow deleted the file right after it downloaded before it was moved, which is not likely at all)

I have been using 2 different launchers because I dual box, and you guys screwed up the default EQ2 launcher a while back so us dual boxers could not log in to 2 different accounts at the same time. Now my Station launcher is gone. And I have to say I'm getting royally [Removed for Content] off at this treadmill you guys are putting us through. While I'm at it, I may as well cuss you guys out also for taking out the (follow) feature we always had, by clicking on the groupmate you want to follow, we can't do that anymore, for some ungodly reason, and we are now forced to have to keep typing /follow each time we want to do it.

Getting so angry at all this crap, I'm about to say to hell with you guys all together.

I just tried your wonderful new launcher, and sure enuf I can't dual box now, as it is no different than your other dedicated EQ2 launcher, and won't boot up a second account at the same time as another account is running.

THANKS ALOT!

Well I do hope you do not cuss me out as I am just a technical support representative and you are talking about a /follow command on the connection support forum...

I use the streaming launcher, LP3, to dual box myself. I just use two separate directories as most people do. Both LP3. I would highly suggest you do the same.

After about 5-6 tries it now works. I've got both accounts up and running. I still see no reason for it to run so poorly it needs to be tried over and over again just to boot up 2 accounts. Seriously you guys need to work on this. A ton of us have more than one account in this game.

Thanks for trying to help, but seriously, these issues have been getting more and more common as of late, and we are starting to get sick of this. Sorry for yelling at you. Just getting very frustrated seeing whats happening to a great game that I've been playing since pretty much it's birth.

I have absolutely no idea how to make up 2 directories, and make seperate launchers for each. I've been doing it just fine the way I have been until you guys screwed something up again making things more difficult than it needs to be.

Log in to your LaunchPad. Do not click PLAY. Instead click on Option on the top left. Now click on Open Game Folder. That is your Everquest 2 folder. Copy it. Paste it somewhere else. Create a copy of your EQ2 LaunchPad. Right-click it and select properties. Change the path to the 2nd folder.
