I've had to completely disable Voice Chat due to many crashes that not only freeze up and crash the game, but my desktop too. It throws up about 20 or so errors when it does this. I'd thought this problem was being looked at, but after checking the forums the last post about this is from October (2010). Is there any fix for this problem, that I've some how missed?

Each time I've enabled the Voice chat, I get a VVS text document put into my logs folder each crash.

I read somewhere that adding "cl_show_voice_tutorial 0" to my eq2.ini file might help, but so far it hasn't, and I don't use a router.

Please help.

Could you post your system information? I was not here in the original thread in October but I can help you troubleshoot it now. There is not a widespread voice chat issue affecting all customers like you describe, so we need to identify the cause and eliminate it.

I could use your DXDIAG and MSINFO.

[EQII] Video walkthrough: Generating dxdiag, msinfo32 and netinfo files

It looks like your Sound Card is the source of the crashes. The first thing you will need to do is find up-to-date drivers for your sound device.

Description: SoundMAX Digital Audio Default Sound Playback: Yes Default Voice Playback: Yes Hardware ID: PCIVEN_1106&DEV_3059&SUBSYS_80B01043&REV_60 Manufacturer ID: 1 Product ID: 100 Type: WDM Driver Name: smwdm.sys Driver Version: 5.12.0001.3663 (English) Driver Attributes: Final Retail WHQL Logo'd: Yes Date and Size: 7/15/2003 16:00:00, 578368 bytes <-- this needs to be addressed.

Thank you for the reply. I recently reformatted my machine and have the most up to date drivers I'm able to find. This is an on board sound card, and I installed all the latest drivers for my motherboard. Is there anything else that it might be? The only thing I've not been able to find drivers for is a raid controler, could this be the problem?

I don't see your raid drivers causing crashes that can obviously be attributed to the voice chat function, but of course everything up-to-date is always the best.

You are still crashing post re-format/updated audio drivers? Could you repost your DXDIAG info?

After checking the Asus website for driver updadtes for my card/sound drivers (there are none) I got in game and re-enabled voice chat. I was able to get access to both channels that were available to me and talk to and hear people in those channels. I did not crash or receive any error pop up messages, and my computer did not freeze up and crash. However I checked my logs folder and found yet another Vvs text file (it makes a new one each day that voice is enabled) with the following in it:

02-17-11 17:19:09.593  3376 Error   Service::Run this=0x1652fa4,e->ToString()=C:srcbuildtoolsbranchesvoontmpvkchm1src vivox.systemtcpsocket.cpp(256) : VivoxSystem::TcpSocket::TcpSocket - error 3003Internal ErrorC:srcbuildtoolsbranchesvoontmpvkchm1srcvivox. systemtcpsocket.cpp(256) : VivoxSystem::TcpSocket::TcpSocket - error 10048

My sony folder is on my E drive not C - I've been unable to locate the file that text file lists.

Edit: After logging out of the game then booting it up again, I am now unable to join any channel. Wen I try, I get the error "Voice Chat failure: 1072". When I try to join any of the channels listed, it does nothing. When I choose "none" for my channel it tells me in my character window "You've left channel 'channel_name'. My input and out put device are both now changed to "default" rather than the name of the devices. Disabling and re-enabling voice chat did nothing.

My computer completely froze up trying to access the Vvs file and I had to restart it, when I reloaded the game my voice chat is now working again I'm able to join and leave channels freely. I've changed nothing, all settings are the same.

I 'd like to add here that Voice chat was working properly for at least a month maybe 2 (after my reformat) before I started having these problems, and I didn't have any problems at all prior to the reformat.

Please review this Knowledge Base article. It contains port information that you will need to configure on your router, or bypass the router altogether, in order for voice chat with the vivox service to function properly. This can and typically does cause a client crash.

[EQII] Voice Chat FAQ

If you do not have a router, I would highly suggest contacting your ISP directly as they would have to make the changes on their end.
