My husband and I play together on Oasis and Runnyeye and we always make a couple in each race we play, but we've found that height is a really big issue on several of the SOE models. For some reason my barb at the very smallest she can be is nearly the same height as his at his largest. We've run into the same issue in humans. Is there anything that can be done about this? He wants to be tall and I want to be shorter than him and right now we are the same no matter what we do.

Play different races.

Barbarians are large, humans are average, high elves and kerra are tall, wood elves and half elves are shorter. And then gnomes, dwarves, and halflings are very short.

Eventually you can get the four-year veteran reward that allows you to shrink your character, but until then, you will have to deal with the fact that barbarians are tall!

i have also run into this when matching up the same race. Try setting both of the model types to the height you want, even if you don't set anything else about the alt type. For some reason that seems to fix it for me, its almost as if SOGA is getting its height not from its own slider but from the originals height settings.

The official heights of all races and genders are as follows: Humans, Iksar, High Elves, Erudites: 6 feet for each race and gender. Barbarians, Kerra: 7 feet for both races and genders Ogres: 10 feet for both genders. Trolls: 8 feet for both genders. Wood Elves, Half Elves, Dark Elves: 5 feet for both genders. Dwarves, Halflings, Ratonga, Frogloks: 4 feet for each race and gender. Gnomes: 3 feet for both genders. Fae, Arasai: 2 feet for both genders, 3 feet while running. Sarnak: 10 feet for males, 12 feet for females With this in mind, there are fairly sizable differences between the maximum and minimum height for most races, specifically the taller ones like Barbarians. The smallest Barbarian is about the same height as the tallest Human. If you're comparing the tallest Barbarian with the smallest Barbarian, then you should make sure you're both on even flooring, and in both first and 3rd person views, measure yourself up against an something like an elevated ledge. I'm sure you would notice a difference in both physical height and camera perspective height.

Nayawk wrote:

i have also run into this when matching up the same race. There is (or at least was at one point) an issue where the SOGA model's first person camera was not set to the height of that model's eye level.

yeah that's true. The models aren't accurate, but back in EQlive, a height was given for each race in their descriptions, and strictly going by model height alone in that game, all the races fit to what I mentioned above, since there was no height adjustment and the models themselves were far more simple and easy to develop by a strict standard of comparison.

In EQ2, there's no yard sticks or Police Line Up rooms to actually measure ourselves, so all I can go by is the average height of that race established through the lore and background info of each race.

The Sarnaks and Fae's heights were explained when they were released as well.

Also, the Pen and Paper standards don't exactly apply to this game, so I take that with a grain of salt.

I think thats what the chart is referring to.

Someone mentioned Sarnak werre 10-12 feet tall. Ingame hunched over they are about the size of a barbarian. But much taller if they ever stood up straight.

The major descrepency is High Elves IMO. They are way too tall ingame. They should really only be slightly taller then wood elves and very very slightly taller then dark elves.
