Have left my raiding guild and am officially retiring my Coercer. Basically for me, retirement means he's not available for raids or groups, only for mobs so hard that I can't kill with any of my other toons. Not sure which toon I'll make as my new main (probably Troub). After five years of raiding with my Coercer, five years of the class being jerked around by SoE and the last two expansions being craptastic at best was enough to push my "burn out" meter to max. Really bummed about my raiding guild though. I've been there for four years and have some really good friends there. But I'm going to take a few months off from raiding and relax some. Maybe if things work out right I'll get to go back to my old guild but with a different toon.

Also waiting to see how the new expansion is. If it's a really bad expansion.... again...then I think it will be time to retire not just my Coercer but my account also.

So just curious, who else has retired their Coercers?

The reason alot of us play is not just to raid, or whatever. But to play, and do things with friends. If these guys are your great friends for years now, I'm willing to bet they would want to still do things with you, whether you raid or not. I wouldn't let your becoming bored or sick of your class get in the way of being able to continue playing with your friends. You're going to regret it in the long run if you just fall off the earth and stop playing with them.

Retire? Nope, it's still my favourate character. I have a 90 Illu, Troub and Conji and the Coercer is more enjoyable than the lot.

If you intend to raid on the Troub after playing Coercer then you'll soon be retiring for good .. playing a Troub in a raid sucks.

I find that th quickest way to get back into playing is to try another game for awhile. Most will soon have you appreciating EQ again.

You're so disappointed with the game and the craptastic expansions that you're... making an alt.

...

Sorry for the confusing then, I have several alts, two that are 90 and two that are 81. But getting my SK, Monk or Conjuror into a raiding guild is almost impossible so that leaves my Troub. My Troub used to be my raiding alt but got really bored with it, especially when it started getting slaughtered by the Dirge in DPS. Wasnt bad when competting with the Dirge for lowest non-healer DPS.

The problem with my friends are that they are raiders and don't log on much anymore except to raid, which is the cycle I was in before retirement. So I don't get to talk to them much anymore, a little before the raid and then some after the raid. So still waiting on seeing how the expansion is. Don't want to bad mouth it until after it comes out and I'll see how it is then. Too many rumors ( just like every other expansion ) and not enough facts yet. So I'll keep an eye on the boards to see what everyone is saying about it.

But given that, even if it is a great expansion I don't see the Coercers getting much for the better so he'll stay retired and used on a rare occasion when I get that nostalgic (spelling?) feeling.

Coercer is definately the class i enjoy the most of all casters. Not gonna retire this bad boy for a looong time

My guild do, however, tend to make me play all different classes. Just a month ago i was a troub, and a few weeks ago dirge - and now back to Coercer - which i definately enjoy the most.

Im not sure how the game is gonna be with DOV coming out. In my eyes, the Chanter AAs weally suck, and im prolly gonna end up looking for something to compensate for the boring AAs. Maybe betray to illu or something - if they get buffed well.

The DoV enchanter AAs are pretty [Removed for Content] good. The endlines anyway. The 3rd row are pretty pissweak but you can't have everything.

How you can feel coercers are "craptastic at best" baffles me. Im able to do great dps in addition to supplying the best power replenishment in the game, and some nice utility. Not sure what youre expecting here.
