Lately, when I try to two box, at some point (usually when pulling a named, lol), I will get the BSOD at some point while playing. Not really sure what the issue could be, wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for a computer noob. I do not get the BSOD doing anything else on the computer or while I am playing EQ2 with only one account logged in, only while two boxing. Thank you.

The BSOD message would help us narrow it down. It should be included in your windows error reporting within MSINFO. I've included instructions at the bottom of this post on how to create a diagnostic file with MSINFO.

With BSOD's, we are typically looking at a hardware or driver failure, and in rare situations a driver conflict. The fact that you may not experience issues unless you are two-boxing may point to your video card not being able to sustain the load. The instructions below also include a DXDIAG portion, go ahead and copy the system and display sections here or in a PM.

I'll make sure you are all up to date and look in to why your particular BSOD occurred.

[EQII] Video walkthrough: Generating dxdiag, msinfo32 and netinfo files

Blue screens are usually caused by either too much heat, not enough/too much juice (read: bad overclock or dying powersupply), a bad driver/core software/missing dll, or bad hardware... Either way Windows is shutting down your system so it doesn't damage something and 90% of the time its hardware.

If this JUST started happening and it only happens when you 2 box (I'm assuming 2 accounts on the same computer) I'd say it's one of these.... Wait, one more question, did you add any new hardware lately?

If not, it's more than likely caused by too much heat.... Again if it JUST started happening and it worked fine before then something is going bad or your fans are choked with dust.

Graphic card overheating (could be) because heatsink fan is dying.

Powersuppy is dying - not getting enough juice/too much dust

CPU heatsink fan is dying - overheat.

Bad memory stick (but this would show up on other things).

or your hard drive is going bad - (again would cause it to happen all the time).

On the software side

Are you running both instances from different EQ2 directories? (I'll assume yes) If no, then it could be a file sharing conflict (doubtful but, stranger things have happened). (copy your EQ2 dir to another location with a different name then use only one exe per account) Sorry I'm not trying to insult your intelligence here, just covering all the bases.

Did you update any drivers lately?

If I were you, I'd pull off the your computer cover and give the inside a good cleaning including all the fans and powersupply with canned air... and don't be skimpy on the air man, go nuts!

Then fire your computer up and make sure all your fans are spinning in a rapid circular motion.

Then check the temps on all your major parts (CPU, Graphics card, Memory, HDD) (PC wizard is a good program for this and it's free).

Let us know what happens.

Great post Loxus however it may be a bit daunting for our less technically inclined customers!
