I just this afternoon purchased a brand new Dell computer

I bought the Sentinel's Fate all in one pack, and hoped I would be able to load it up and start playing the game relatively easily, but I guess this is not to be so.

Firstly, when I insert the disk into my computer, the installation process starts, only to hang up at a "characterA1/VPX" file, whereupon the disk drive recycles for about 5 minutes until I either get frustrated and manually shut down the install, or I get a pop up about a redundancy erroor

So I notice that the website here has a "download the game" So after an hour or so of trying every method under the sun to actually get the website to accept both the keycode from my software box, so that you all have proof that I actually bought the game, and a subscription card, so that you don't have access to my credit card, but still get money from me, they finally both appear magically...who knows how, seeing all the error and "this card has been used" screens I went through.

Miracle of miracles, I have botrh an active subscription, and permissions for all the areas of the game

So now I activate the launcher, and it starts downloading 58.8 MB of something, and then hangs up at 51.9 MB downloaded and I get a "An Error Occurred Trying to Access Everquest 2 Streaming Error Code 1012"

I'm on attempt 50 or so

Can someone help me, or am I going to regret ever trying to run this game?

The error 1012 usually points to the game being unable to write data to the folder it is in.

I've got two seperate steps you can take.

First, you can launch the LaunchPad as an admin. This is accomplished by right clicking on the icon you use to launch the game and selecting Run as Administrator.

Second, you can uncheck the attribute on the folder you installed to that indicates Read-Only.

Running as admin did the trick, thank you!

about how long will it take to download everything as I play or will it not do that , and just stream the game forever?

I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly how long your download will take without more ISP information but it will eventually download the entire game and only stream new data as necessary.
