I have 2 computers with eq2 on them, fully patched. In my country you have data caps or have to pay per gb, to patch a new version of eq2 it will cost me around 250 dollars (about 200 usd)

I was thinking, can I just install launch pad one, copy the files over and then avoid having to save up for 3 months in order to play.

I have been searching for my eq2 discs but sadly my disc 1 is missing and I only have disc 2 from my original eq2 discs does anyone know the location of launch pad 1 or a way I can install the game and get it to play.

PS: Streaming client cost me more to patch than LP1, and LP3 never works for me,

Thanks =

Man I hope they don't try to force us over to lp3, it would cost a fortune for anyone outside the US/EU countries who doesn't have unlimited data :/

All of our methods include a download, even installing from the discs. We've updated the way files are stored on your computer as well as the many additions to the game itself. There is no way to avoid the download unless you have already done it in the past on this computer (in which case copying your old folder over is fine)

Copy over your working installation folder and set up the shortcut manually to the old launchpad if you're using that. You may have to install the station launcher and point it to your new folder if that's the launcher you want, but that's not a big download. And do yourself a favour - if you're copying over to vista or win7 don't copy your folder into program files or programdata, set up c:games or something and dump it in there.

can someone tell me where to get the old install for eq2, i managed to find the old launcher but where on windows 7 is my game installing to so i can try manually patch it with my full download from another computer

This is the biggest nightmare i have ever had to deal with, I just want to play the stupid game I have played for years. Lp3 doesn't work for me, streaming client will cost me to much money.. If someone will be kind enough to upload a rip of the eq2 cd and pm me a link it will be greatly appreciated.

The data on the CD would still need to be updated.

The only method I can directly provide is LP3 or you can use Station Launcher if it works for you.

Thats how I did my laptop 2 years ago.

Installed from cD, copy pasted files from eq2 folder on another computer onto new computer.

Game worked, downloaded a few patches but not 20gb

You should already have all the required files on your other computer if that's the case.

The patching method however is not something I can provide as that is quite old now.

So in other words the only way I can play eq2 now is to start all over, which I can't afford the games to big, and since patches are not released individually I can't download them from local servers and avoid that cost like WoW...

Well goodbye eq2 its been a good run

Unfortunately there isn't a way around pay per gb at this time.

TSR-JoshuaM wrote:

Unfortunately there isn't a way around pay per gb at this time.

Which is why WoW is played by 80 thousand in my country and EQ2 is played by like 4, because their patches are released independent and people can download and patch their own games.

=) i will just leave then, thank you for trying to help, I wonder if many will leave after the forced lp3 update in a few months also. IF in the same boat as I am, I am guessing yes.

Whether or not customers will leave based on their pay-per-GB internet model is not something I can control nor does it require technical support. I wish I had a way around it but I do not.
