So someone in 1-9 chat said that SOE recently made an announcement that when you buy Distiny of Velious, it comes with Sentinals Fate.

She said that the post was in the Official News and Announcement forum, but I havn't been able to find anything.

Anyone know anything about this?

I ask because I was gonna buy Sentinels Fate this week. But if thats the case, I'm not gonna buy it and just wait till Destiny of Velious drops.

When you buy the latest expansion (DoV in this case) you get all expansions that came before it.

This is how SOE helps new players get into game and not break their bank. Sure... sure you might take the stance of "well i been around since day one and i have spent all this money since that day to present!" but you also have characters with gear and levels to show for it. You've taken advantage of the time and content. Brand new players can't and wont be able to like you have.

This might seem like a hard concept to understand or a tough pill to swallow but bottomline is, SOE will never charge (or any MMO company for that matter) new players for old content.

You must purchase everything up to, and including the newest expansion - to play the newest expansion. If you were to buy only "Cataclysm," you would be SOL.

Folks should remember these tidbits before they launch in to their tirades about this particular game.

It's an all-in-one package: http://eq2.zam.com/story.html?story=24832

But, people will always b!7ch no matter the reason i guess. I for one am quite glad it's not necessary to buy all the previous expansions, because when my wife (then girlfriend) wanted to start playing, all i needed was buy the latest expansion and she was good to go! Had i needed to buy the original EQ2 and every single expansion up to EoF (when she started playing), i'd have told her nvm, go play Mario...

Awesome, thank you very much guys/girls. Really appreciate the feedback.

And yes, I come from WOW where I played for nearly 6 years. Only been playing Everquest 2 for a little over 2 months with a friend of mine. She brought me into it when I was sick of WOW.

In WOW you had to buy every previous expansion if you wanted to be able to access the latest expansion, mind you they cut the price of those previous expansions by about 90%. You can get Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King for about 5 dollars now.

But I guess I'l just wait for Destiny of Velious to come out and forget about buying Sentinals Fate.

Thanks again!
