I just got in from work and went to login to the game and I get the following error when I try to start LaunchPad: "Sorry, there was an error initializing LaunchPad. Please make sure you are connected to the internet and try again."

Obviously my internet is working and fully functional, or I wouldn't be here on the forums making this post. I also seen a post on the Steam forums started today where folks are getting this same exact error, so I'm positive it's not something on my end.

Is there an issue with the LaunchPad server, and is SOE aware of it and working on a resolution?

If it helps out, I'm using the EQ2 streaming LaunchPad from the official EQ2 website.

Same issue and if its from my end then its still an issue with SoE files.

My internet works fine. Even World Of Warcraft is working. Guess I will play the game of SoEs rival tonight since they still do not have it together.

It has been less than 2 weeks since I came back from a 4 year hiatus off of EQ2 to Play WoW with my friends, and this makes two times since I've been back there has been a major issue with the LaunchPad network preventing me from playing. It's starting to look like coming back to EQ2 and giving SOE another chance wasn't such a great idea afterall.

It sucks. It really does, because I've been an SOE subscriber since 2002 or 2003 with PlanetSide.

44 in queue ahead of me for live chat support, hopefully at least some of them are having the same issue.

This is a temporary issue as our engineering team works on an internal issue. We are working diligently on the issue and will get it back up as soon as possible. I did want to let you know that this specific error is not a technical issue on your end but a known outtage and we'll have it sorted a quickly as we can.

If you are currently in-queue for support regarding this specific issue, "Sorry, there was an error initializing LaunchPad." I want to let you know that it is a server outtage on our end and will be resolved shortly.

Thank you for the speedy response Joshua -- it's just frustrating I have experienced this twice in less than a week, but I do understand things like this arise especially this time of the year, and hope you guys can get it resolved promptly.

I see progress. I can finally connect, just the 31.5KB of an update sticks at 0.0kb.

This may occur when you connect immediately after the patch servers come up but they are not 100% initialized yet. Give it a few more minutes or for an official word that everything has returned to normal.

I was quite impressed to see a response from an SOE team member so promptly. This is definitely better than what I've experienced from SOE in the past, and I completely take back what I said in my original post in this thread, because I do definitely see how things like this can happen this time of the year.

I was just upset because I just got in from work and wanted to play EQ2.

And here it is! The servers should be back up now. You should not be receiving this error anymore starting our LaunchPad.
