View Full Version : Dogdog. Still a worthwhile tool?

I've been playing my mystic more recently, and I know that the dog used to be a great tool when it came to support (healing and warding for example.) Is this still the case? Or has he just become another little damage addition.

I don't think I could ever play shaman in this game without my dog. He is almost always useful. I mean it sucks when he draws aggro off me when I try to train areas or mass pull to kill lots of things, but the ward and aoe immune procs are still always nice. I haven't really noticed anything much with the cures he can do. WIll probably drop those points soon.

I think i can safely say the dog is still a "tool"

that being said there is no reason to NOT use him. I dont run around my raid planning on my dog saving anyone. But he's there, doing what ever it is he does. He certainly dont hurt. And any free healing is good healing.

it's not the healing that makes dog a beast. it's the ae immunity. make a trigger for act and you will see how much it helps.

Here ya go: .*?You are protected by Spiritual Foresight..*

I dont need act to tell me when the dog procs aoe immunity. its easy to see that my group didnt get hit. I take a more practical approach to it. Yes he may proc it 10 times but only once did it go off when it was helpful.

Honestly given the realatively small range of it and the random nature of the proc i consider everything the dog does as "gravy" Free lovin is always good lovin. I just wish i had a bit more control on making him proc. This is my number one complain on his proc cures as well....Oh sure he cures....Not as fast as me or as reliable as me. Thus making cures useless unless i'm asleep.

I've long thought mystics should have some sort of reoccuring cure. Personally i'd like to see that ghost bear (yea remember him? no? Me either) changed to something that spams cures instead of weak heals. That or just give us the ablity to order the pet to "cure" or "aoe block" That last one is tricky i dont want to change the random nature of the proc just like to be able to very occasionaly force one.

the dog cures are completely useless in SF.

Yea that was sorta my point. Too random/slow to proc to be of any real value. Something i also feel is going to be a problem in any expansion.
