My husband and I are returning players,... and reinstalled EQ2 yesterday. We are on DSL internet,.... and started the updating process last night. We have watched it go from 5hrs remaining, and the blue bar be filled, back to 30hrs remaining,... back to 4hrs this morning, then 20hrs, and now I just got home and the blue bar is filled but we show another 30+hrs of updating remaining.

Is this normal???? We were hoping to get to play this weekend, but at this rate, it's not looking too good.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

* to clarify, we have installed the original game discs,... no expansions, etc.

I recommend using the EverQuest II Streaming Client. It only requires a small initial download before allowing you into the game. The rest of the files will be downloaded in the background.

We managed to get online yesterday finally,.... however, our old characters aren't showing up in the select window. I'm not sure where I should address this issue? Will we be able to retrieve our old characters at all??

Assuming you are logging in with the same account that you used before, then you are simply accessing the wrong region of the world.

For example, if you are in Europe but you have the launcher set to US - you won't see your characters that you created on the Euro servers, and vice versa.

Depending on your launcher there will be an option somewhere in there for Region, or Language. Make sure it is set properly before you click Play, and you will see your characters. They haven't gone anywhere.
