I am getting this error now after the patch. I have repatched several times and the status of Permafrost shows it is online, yet I continue to get this error. Can anyone help me fix this?

i am getting it too. if u look under the game update notes there is an additional post saying the update will be extended 1.5 hours to fix "this" issue, although i don't know if it's this issue or something else and their fix for that made this happen. one only knows!

I had the same problem and here's what I had to do to get it to work:

download the installer from http://launch.soe.com/eq2/

and install it, then once launchpad opens close it

my game stuff was in c:/programdata

I had to copy all the stuff from c:/programdata/sonyonlineentertainment

to the new folder at c:/users/public/sonyonlineentertainment

(any duplicate files keep the existing version)

Finally, after two hours of messing around it worked

At this very moment our servers are experiencing an outtage. Our engineers are working diligently to get everything back up and running as soon as possible. This may not include the game servers itself, if you had logged in prior to the outtage, but they may be brought down shortly as well.
