Hey everyone,

I've searched through these forums plus numerous others in hopes of finding a solution, but to no avail. My problem is that, once I get past the launcher, the client will stall (or at least fail to advance) past the "Caching Appearances" loading phase. It'll download about 30 MB or so and stop with 1-3 kb left. Once it reaches that point, the client will usually crash within the next minute or so.

The first error message I got was a fatal error, but I cannot remember what it originally said except for "Appearance cache is invalid." I've tried numerous fixes that people had offered but nothing seemed to work. Eventually the error message changed to this: <verify> E:liveeq2frameworkscenegraphsrcVeAppearance.cpp (5262): ERROR - Appearance cache is invalid.

Now I've tried deleting cache folders, reinstalling the game, changing directories, updating my drivers, running compatibility modes, running through launcher, running through the .exe, creating a shortcut for the .exe, and any other fixes that I could find. None have worked so far, and it's becoming very frustrating. It's even more frustrating for the fact that I can run the EQ2 Extended version perfectly fine with no errors and perhaps 3 crashes total in the months I've played it.

Is there any other fixes available? Any help at all would be absolutely appreciated. If I missed the solution, please let me know. I'm not sure what information is needed to solve this, but if a dxdiag, crash log, or basic cpu info is needed, I'll gladly give them. By the way, I am running Vista on a laptop.

Thanks in advance.

I'm having the exact same problem. I acutally bought the game 6 Jan online and had to buy a subscription in order to get the game. What I find frustrating is I'm paying for something I can't use. Are any of the techies actually working on this?

Please post your system information so we can better assist you.

Press the Windows and R key on your keyboard

A box will appear, type dxdiag into it and press enter

Click the Save all information button and save the file to your desktop

Post the contents of the file up to and including your sound devices section

I was having a similar issue to the one you described, where it would load almost all the way then crash and give me an error. I was using the station launcher at the time. I contacted support and asked for help, I was told to download the eq2streaming launcher. After I did this, everything was fine and I could get into the game no problem. If you are using station launcher, try what I did, and that should fix the issue(plus the streaming one loads atleast 10x as fast). I hope this helped.

Hey, the problem I was having was fixed after I installed the entire game using the cds my friend loaned to me. I'm not sure how it fixed it exactly but it's not a problem any longer. Thank you everyone for the help.
