I can't get the screenshot to post here on the thread but I will try to describe the problem the best that I can.

When I log into the game and after I create my character my screen goes mostly light blue and what used to be the top left corner of the screen gets put into the center of the screen. I can hit alt + enter and sometimes making it windowed helps other times taking it out of windowed mode helps.

Here is a copy of the dxdiag log I saved. I just installed directx and updated my graphics driver hoping that would solve the problem but it is still happening.

Thanks for any help.

------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 1/4/2011, 22:47:53 Machine name: AIMEE-PC
Yes, we have been able to use that machine in the past. It has been about six months or so since we last played though.

I will go ahead and make the changes you suggested and give it another try.

Thanks

So far so good. We'll give it some play time tomorrow to see if it holds up.

Thanks

I left the toon setting to see what would happen since it was going well and I just looked over at the screen and it's mostly a sky blue color again with the hp bar which is normally at the top left of the screen in the middle now.

Everything else is adjusted as if the center of the screen is the top left of the screen.

Any other ideas that may get this working? I may just go ahead and do a reformat of her drive to see if that will help. It's been a while since I've cleaned up her system so it's about due anyways.

Well...

When in doubt, reformat. At least that's what I always thought. Unfortunately even after the reformat and all the updates it's still going crazy on her.

Update:

Playing the game the screen flashes and in the new Halas starting area the screen goes light blue and moves the top left corner into the center of the screen. When she uses alt + enter it will sometimes fix it for her temporarily.

I wish I knew how to edit these posts but anyways, I got some screenies. Excuse the multiple links, I'm not sure which will post the image and without the ability to edit I figured I'd toss em all in there to be safe.

The screen when it's fine:

http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/.../EQ2_000003.jpg

http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/zz220/Phoenix_79/EQ2_000003.jpg

<a href="http://s829.photobucket.com/albums/...=EQ2_000003.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/.../EQ2_000003.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket">

The screen when it's crazy:

http://s829.photobucket.com/albums/...=EQ2_000000.jpg

http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/zz220/Phoenix_79/EQ2_000000.jpg

<a href="http://s829.photobucket.com/albums/...=EQ2_000000.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/.../EQ2_000000.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket">

Ten days and still no response from a dev in the support forum?

1/3 of the subscription has rotted away waiting on more help from a dev about this.

I would like to apologize that it has been some time since we last responded to your thread.

Regarding your graphical issues, I've reviewed your DXDIAG and have not been able to identify anything out of the ordinary. It looks like you are using up to date drivers that are known to work properly with EQII in most situations. Most of the steps to troubleshooting this were accomplished by reformatting and reinstalling everything fresh. What we can do now is to see if the behavior persists in other situations.

What do you typically have set within your display settings in-game? Are you running at a very high setting? If so, do the issues continue if you were to turn your settings lower with some of the heftier settings off? I'm referring to shadows, complex shader models, shader 3 etc...

She normally runs at 1440 x 900 and on High Performance settings. I will try letting it run for a while under Very High Performance.

I have installed WoW and Dragon Age: Origins on the computer and played them for a while to see if the problem happened with them as well and it did not. I was able to play both of those games for a couple of hours before I shut them down.

Sounds great. Let us know as soon as issues crop up again when running on lower settings.

I'm going to piggy back on this thread because I'm having the exact same issue with a the only difference being I run Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate. I can play every other game under the sun with no issue, save EQ2. After wearing Google out trying to identify the problem and/or find a fix, in some sadistic way, I'm "glad" i'm not the only one with this issue.

Oelno, did you guys ever figure out what was wrong?

TSR-JoshuaM

With graphics going 'crazy' it typically indicates a possible driver or hardware issue. If updating to the latest support drivers for your video card do not fix the issue I would start testing in lower settings and/or running some type of stability test that your video card manufacturer may have available.

Thanks, Joshua.

I generally run games at my max monitor setting 1900x1200 with everything ramped up with no problems. I turned the resolution down one notch and I only seem to have this issue if I sit at character select a bit too long but a couple of alt+enters will fix it.

Another thing I've noticed is that this issue is only really an issue in the starting area I'm in. Once I've gotten a bit farther away from "starter town." The issue is non-existent, even with my setting put back to where they usually are. So I kick them down to 1600x1200 until I'm done with the first area then turn them back up once I'm father out. Still, I wish I knew why my system was doing this or what causes it, but ultimately it's not a huge deal now that I have a better idea how to circumvent it.

Thanks for the assist.

If you do run in to other problematic areas that you believe you can reproduce, go ahead and /bug it as well as an entirely different team of people will receive that information.
