View Full Version : Cloak of Crystalline Depths Worthwhile?

My Inquisitor is now into his 80s and I am gathering gear for when he hits 90. I also have about 175 marks saved up.

The question is what to do with my marks. I have several pieces of legendary armor waiting for him, so I could live without the mark armor for a while. I was wondering about the Cloak of Crystalline Depths. The stats on it are good, 6% spell resuce and 2% potency, but not worth 220 marks imo. What I can't tell is how useful the Otherwordly Assistants proc is.

Has anyone used this cloak? Any details on how exactly the proc works and how useful you find it?

Thanks.

The proc works when you get hit. I like the stats on it and may swap it out it for something else if I am not soloing.

Is the cloak worthwhile? That's a situational answer. The proc functions similar to the Star of Malice from the old Shard of Hate T8 raid zone. Basically the pets which spawn from the cloak's proc do some minor group healing and can block non-targeted AEs for the group. Before it got changed, there were even some upper end raid scouts who used that cloak simply for the proc chance to avoid AEs.

From all of my personal discussions on the matter, the common assessment is that the CoCD is amazing for Heroic play. Some people still swear by it for raiding as well. However more people believe that the Drape which is dropped from the bird ghost Seer in PCAL is a better choice for raiding healers who are clearing Easy Mode content.

Now as an Inq, I personally find the proc more useful than my Fury friend (who can throw up a group wide AE blocker through his AA selections). Since we tend to melee anyhow, I feel that the chance to avoid AEs is an attractive benefit. However once my guild starts to clear more Hard Mode mobs consistently, I may change my mind on the subject.

Thanks for the information. It was very helpful. I don't currently raid and will be doing solo and heroic content so it sounds like this is a good cloak for that.

If you solo/heroic play the cloak is very very very awesome. Think couple of our melee oriented healers still wear it in raids before they got UD Wing 3 cloaks. Though @ the first reply its a melee proc when you hit the mob, not other way around. I assume its just a typing error and ya know what if you have one...just throwing it out if ppl read this though >.<.

The lil dudes it spawns cast 6s duration AoE avoids, spot/spam heals of about ~500 - 900hp from what I seen and cast wards that are worth about 300 damage. Despite the screen filling up with 10+ wards I hear only one actually absorbs per person. Total package is nice for a melee priest.
