For a while now I have been experience client crashes. Over all pretty random but found a spot in Bonemire that causes it everytime.

When the client crashes it kicks me to my desktop and displays a message box with the following text:

build="SOEBuild=7223T" version="SOEVersionString=2010/12/21 19:05:57" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="exp02_rgn_realm_of_night" loc="121.73 87.28 970.73" performance="7" verify="E:testeq2frameworkresmanincResource.hpp(385): m_iRefCount != 0 / Tag: 0 / Type: 00000000 / Name: [unknown] 00401b92 766f6d00"

I found this same message in the verifylog.txt in the eq2 directory.

E: drive on my computer is a DVD drive so I don't know why it is looking there. My eq installation in on my C: drive.

Thanks for any input into solving this problem.

The reference to the "E:" drive is not to your optical drive but is used as a reference for debugging. I noticed that you are running the game with custom settings. Lets try reseting the game options back to default and see if the problem still persists.

You may want to make backups and then delete the following files and folders:

cache folder

eq2_recent.ini

eq2_default.ini

EverQuest2.exe

eq2.ini

As well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:

Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini

Stationname_characters.ini

That seems to have fixed the problem.

I will try to set up the custom UI I was using again and see if the problem returns.

I went to the area with no changes to the graphics settings and no crash. I turned on shader3 and pretty much maxed settings and returned and no crash then either.

Thanks for the help and I hope the problem doesn't return with the custom UI since I find the stock UI lacking.

While the client crash to desktop seems to be fixed I am now experiencing complete system crashes requiring reboot.

I have repeated the above steps and had it crash once. Turned up graphics settings and now it seems to be crashing more frequently.

Again, thanks for any help you can offer.

Make sure your system's temps are in check (cpu/gpu). In the mean time please post your dxdiag information. You can generate this info by doing the following:

Press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard

A box will appear, type dxidiag into it and press enter

Click the Save all information button and save the file to your desktop

Post the contents of the generated file up to and including the sound devices section

Here is the dx info including sound. I did driver updates and found some for the creative stuff that wasn't being included in the auto-update application. After getting the updates I played for about 2 hrs without a crash. Did not spend time where crashes had been accuring but will test there as soon as possible. As of this post seems to be stable.

Thanks for the help.

------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 1/7/2011, 12:04:16 Machine name: Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100618-1621) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: System manufacturer System Model: System Product Name BIOS: BIOS Date: 04/13/10 16:37:35 Ver: 08.00.15 Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz Memory: 4096MB RAMAvailable OS Memory: 4094MB RAM Page File: 2473MB used, 5712MB available Windows Dir: C:Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled DxDiag Version: 6.01.7600.16385 32bit Unicode

------------DxDiag Notes------------ Display Tab 1: No problems found.
