<p>I posted in another forum but it seems like these boards are all but dead. I am hoping someone can answer what I wrote here:</p><p><span style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 1px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 1px;"><span style="font-size: 12px;"><p style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">I just rolled an Illy and he is lvl 12 now.  I just got back into EQ2 from WoW and a long time off.  I played at first release and   I just got back into EQ2 from WoW and a long time off.  I played at first release and in beta, that's how long it has been.  I am trying to figure out what mage class I want to play.  I am assuming since so much time as passed I need a class that is solo friendly.  I also want to be very much wanted in groups and group friendly.  However I do not want to play a healer or tank.  I would want to be either utility or dps however I do want to be at the top of my game and have the ability to be close to the top in terms of performance once I learn my toon.  Is Illy for me or should I go coercer or wizzy or warlock? I am assuming necros and conjurers don't have alot to offer a group in in game content?</p><p style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><p style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">I also here that at end game CC is useless?</p><p style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Any help would be appreciated.   Thanks so much!</p><p style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> </p></p><div></div></span></span></p>

<p>All mages are solo friendly. Summoners the most, but all of them solo extremely easily.</p><p>In order of wanted for groups and raids: Coercer > Illusionist > Wizard > Warlock > Conjurer > Necromancer</p><p>It will vary from guild to guild but Coercer and Illusionist are definitely at the top of the list and most guilds want more of both. The other 4 mages aren't too bad and if you put out a lot of DPS then it shouldn't be hard to find a guild with any of them.</p><p>Necros and Conjurers have minor utility/buffage but have a fair bit to offer groups in terms of DPS.</p><p>CC and end game is definitely useless. You can CC most stuff in dungeons but there's rarely any reason to want to do that.</p>

<p>Just the type of post I was looking for. It is sad to see CC in the state that it is. CC was by far one of my favorite things of EQ1. I still remember a time in guk after the server recovered and my enchanter was the first one back into a room full of frogs.  Was able to mez the entire room , charm, and take each one down in turn. Oh well another time and a game ago.</p><p>I guess just need to figure out if being an enchanter without the joy of CC is enough to keep me entertained.</p>
