I haven't seen it so I can't really comment. Maybe many people were upset about not have access to the Vet Reward House.

I thought the state of unrest house would have been cool if they didn't want to actually come up with something new.

There's pics on page 4/5 of the Vampire Lair thread.

I was a bit disappointed that the Somborn-based Freebloods that are supposedly seperate from Mistmoore's ilk are residing in a house designed by his architects. I would have been more apt to purchase it were it based on the Somborn house.

They share the entrance nook (too small to be called an entrance way) and the balcony and the architechture, but saying they are the same is seriously wrong (and it may be bright and gaudy but it's hardly 'ugly', unless you consider Qeynos to be ugly)

Just looked at the pictures. I don't mind them really just would like something a little more original.

Although I was kinda hoping for the Somborn Mansion as well, I think I'm liking the new Vampire Lair. The layout is a little weird, but interesting, and would take some getting used to, so that's where the 'think' comes in.

The fact that it's smaller than the vet house, which I don't have, is great because I think the vet house's size would overwhelm me to decorate.

I'm glad that people don't have to wait for their 7 year vet reward for a house in that style. I hope the 7 year vets agree with that.

gonna chime in and say.... really dissapointed in the vamp lair for something you have to pay RL money for...

i'm beginning to think you don't listen to your playerbase... spend 2 months coding an unoriginal, bad layout home, that is TOO SMALL for something you pay IRL money for...

OR - spend 1 month fixing up STATE OF UNREST, or haunted mansion from NOTD, and make your players REALLY REALLY happy and excited

SOE - you ALREADY HAVE many of the products/zones that your playerbase is asking for.... just put THOSE THINGS in the game.... and stop wasting time on the ugly

I have the 7 year vet house, mistmoor estate or whatever its called. I think the way its decorated is actually very appealing. I rather like the Vampire Lair, though I can say I was hoping for Somborn or Unrest.

I would pay a pretty copper for the Unrest or Somborn estate.

Well because being a loyal customer all that time should give you something original that any joe schmoe can buy for 15 bucks. /shrug Just the way I see it.

It was bad enough that the vet reward only catered to a small small small playerbase. Even smaller than the raider playerbase. It being sort of original (if you think that it being a cust and paste of a zone as original) was about the only thing it had going for it.

Maybe they should make it so you can add 1 or 2 guildhall amentities and be able to place tropheys in the vet reward just to give it that much more of an edge.

The Haunted Mansion would blow this out of the water, hands-down, even if it had been a simple cut and paste. SOE is so out of touch with the player base that I am just astounded. It certainly was no secret what everyone wanted. Frankly I am insulted by this whole deal. The whole package is grossly overpriced, the marketing has been a condescending morass, and the whole thing reeks of SoE having no respect for their customers. Not only charge nearly triple the norm (and a norm that they themselves set) for a race, but make you pay for racial abilities separately? At the current price it should be a package deal. And what do we get for the money? A vampire race modeled after Nosferatu, whose racial ability is to look even uglier, and a lair modeled after a Rankin Bass cartoon. Send the Art dept. some Hammer DVDs so they can see what a proper gothic vampire should look like, swap the current lair for the Somborn haunted mansion, and make it at least half the current price. Then I will consider spending some money. As it is, I won't even be playing a vamp for free, let alone paying such a high price for such total rubbish. You actually think this is competition for WoW? ROFLMAO

I would give up my rent-free LoN house in a heartbeat for the Somborn house. Not even have to think about it.

Heck, I want to live in that house IRL! (I am a Sad Olde Goth, so I'm allowed)

How about this area of a zone for house? My dream lair.....

Down below can be kitch area with dinning area, possibly with basment, and the upper be 4 rooms with two being each side would so cool. You can maybe add outside area that is similar to the entrance of Chardok

I think one of the things that appeals to me most about the Somborn house is how ORDERLY it is, compared to the layouts of all the other houses. All rectangles and squares and straight lines. Clearly delineated rooms. Logical layout.

You know---all things that would work well with placeable items. =P

Just so it's clear, as I'm still seeing some confusion on this... The vampire lair is not identical to the seven year vet reward. Similar in style, but they have two very different layouts. That said, yes, I'm still waiting for the day they add in a cleaned up Unrest for us to own as a home. (Actually, that Chardok picture looks great too!)
