The Illusionist Pet can be removed by dispelling the Illusionist. For Illusionists on PvE servers, this may not be a big deal and only becomes a problem in a few encounters. However, for those of Illusionists who enjoy PvP, it is tremendously frustrating to have our pet simply dispelled away everytime we fight a Crusader or Rogue (and anyone who plays on a PvP server knows Shadowknights are the most frequently encountered class...)

Anyone who fights on a PvP server knows that you (and your whole group) will be stripped of a massive number of buff effects whenever you fight Crusaders (Doom Judgment). Illusionists, being primarily a buff class, already have it ridiculously rough when fighting against dispel classes. Having our pets suddenly vanish whenever we fight them is crippling. This condition is especially disappointing when you consider that one of the major perks of having our Mythical is being able to keep our pet out at all times

Please fix our pet to not suddenly disappear when a Crusader does a standard AOE or a Rogue decides to cuss us out (it's the rogue taunts, Cuss and Tease specifically, that dispels the pet away).

On a side note, whose decision was it to give Crusaders the most powerful dispel in the game? Powerful dispels seem much more appropriate for Enchanters and Bards...Crusaders are one of the last classes I would give such an ability to.

I am starting to become convinced that everyone is simply saying "Screw Illusionists, there are too many issues" and switching to Coercer to avoid problems like the one mentioned above.

So, I'll ask the Coercers (many of whom are former Illusionists) if you notice a similar problem with your Possessed Essence pets. Can those pets be removed through dispels?

If it's a buff, it can be dispelled. Personae is a buff. Shaman dogs are a buff. Summoner pets are a buff.

The big "problem" is that pets are not enough of a threat to be bothered with. Why worry about the pet? Just kill the player. It's usually a lot more trouble than it's worth to even TRY to get a dispel to remove a pet.

Most likely if it's happening to you, it's completely accidental. Sure, someone may be trying to dispel you, but it isn't to remove your pet. They're really aiming to get rid of more important buffs. In the case of an Illy, probably spellshield.

Sorry Banditman, but that is not true--Only Illusionist pets are dispellable buffs. I play on a PvP server with Mystic as my main and my pet is not removable as an effect. In addition, my fiance plays Conjuror and her pet has never been dispelled out of existance.

Also, you don't dispel the pet directly---You dispel the player to kill the pet!!! Dispelling the player is what removes the pet buff and terminates the pet. When an Illusionist is hit by Cuss/Doom Judgment, their pet disappears because you've removed their pet effect.

One last thing -- If you are a PvP player, Banditman, you should know that anyone that can't spike out a Shaman directly (drawn out Priest fight) should actually beat on their pet. Beating on the pet allows you to shred any group ward the shaman has up as the pet has lower defenses. In addition, if the shaman attempts to keep the pet alive, they will go through their power faster than if they only had to heal themselves (again because the dog has weaker defenses). Oh, and another thing, if you directly target the pet, you render its AE immunity useless and can maximize your AE damage because it will now hit both the player AND the pet (great for shattering the group ward). So to say that a pet is "not a threat" or "not something to be bothered with" is entirely inaccurate. There are many situations where the attacking player may choose to directly target a pet.

Does it happen at a certain level only? With 39 it was never dispelled but I constantly have to rebuff my other buffs which gets annoying in PVP for you often don't see it rightaway in a messy fight.

My Illusionist has been 90 for some time now, so I am not familiar with the effects at lower levels. I don't remember it being dispelled out of existance when I was a lower level. It may be a bug only with high level illusionists.

In EQ1 chanters had both a summonable pet (somewhat weak and not really controlable but still summonable), as well as they were able to charm mobs (and with AA perma charm a mob in the zone). So yah Chanters from EQ1 and EQ2 have always had the ability to have a pet.
